Meat eaters will love Restaurante El Churrasco Meloneras, which is a renowned Argentine steakhouse located in Maspalomas. The restaurant serves only the best steak sourced from farms in Scotland and Argentina. They also pride themselves on stocking some of the best wines in the area and host a number of wine testing sessions throughout the year.
However, if you love Italian cuisine you should definitely try Grand Italia located down Boulevard El Faro. This authentic restaurant offers traditional pizzas, cooked in a wood-fired oven for a delicious, mouthwatering taste. On the other hand, if you're a fan of Spanish and Canarian cuisine make sure to try Las Rias Meloneras. This eatery is located on the 1st floor of the Varadero Shopping Centre in Meloneras, but don't be fooled by first appearances as this place offers some of the best seafood in Gran Canaria.
Things to do in Maspalomas in March
The Maspalomas Sand Dunes are undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist attractions not only in Maspalomas but also the whole of Gran Canaria. The sand dunes are 12km long and eventually lead to Playa del Ingles. There are a number of things to see and do here such as camel rides and visiting the El Faro de Maspalomas lighthouse.
On the other hand, if you're here with the little ones you may want to take them to Aqualand, located in Maspalomas. This enormous Water Park boasts a number of attractions for the whole family from wave machines to adrenaline packed slides. The park also features a children's play pool as well as the chance to swim with sea lions!
On a sunny day you may want to visit the Maspalomas Botanical Park (El Parque Botanico de Maspalomas). This spectacular garden features an ever-growing list of species of palms from around the world. This attraction is perfect for any nature enthusiast, plus entry is completely free!
Believe it or not this time of year is perfect for water sports such as kite surfing and wakeboarding. The Pro Surfing Company is located in Maspalomas and offers a wide variety of water sports such as paddle surfing, jet skiing, diving, surfing and more, plus they also rent out a number of surfboards if you would rather take to the water by yourself. However, if you want to try something completely different they also offer "sand boarding" on the Maspalomas sand dunes.
Dates for the diary
The Maspalomas Carnival takes place usually in February or March. This popular event is celebrated every year on the main streets of the resort. The festival includes a variety of events such as the Carnival Queen Gala, Drag Queen and the Grand Parade. The highlight of the carnival is definitely the Grand Parade, where a procession of different floats and acts will make their way through Maspalomas, with plenty of music and dancing.
