What's the Weather like in Marseille in November
Despite being the country's second largest city Marseille, in France, is often overlooked as a holiday destination. However, for those in the know, the city is a beautiful and historic place that offers the peacefulness of the mountains, the sunny shores of the Mediterranean, and world-class attractions that are worth visiting year after year.
Rainfall
Fortunately, the heavy rainfall of October doesn't last long, and November sees much lower precipitation levels of around 40mm, which remain quite steady through the entire winter until spring brings the April showers. November does, however, have the most days with precipitation of any month in the year: 11.
The chance of experiencing rainfall is also at its highest this month. It peaks at 34% and ranges around 33%. This means that rainfall generally occurs as moderate rain, which is very spread out. Moderate rain is observed on 62% of the days with precipitation. Light rain and thunderstorms occur as well, but are less likely, respectively observed on 19% and 15% of those rainy days.
Temperature
As the winter weather arrives in the city, temperatures continue to drop, with the daytimes becoming "jacket weather." Temperatures range between just 7°C at night to 15°C in the afternoon on average. The overall average temperature is 11°C. November is characterised by rapidly decreasing temperatureshe beginning of the month is by far the warmest time. The average high temperature, for instance, drops from 18°C to 13°C in the course of the month.
Average Sea Temperature
It is much too cold for swimming in the Mediterranean Sea this time of year. The air temperature won't allow it, and the sea temperature isn't all too comfortably either, averaging 18°C. November is also quite a cloudy month. The cloud cover averages 44% and doesn't vary all that much throughout the month. Combined with the decreasing length of the dayshere is a day-to-day drop in day length of 2 minuteshis results in fewer sunshine hours per day.
Average Sunshine Hours
Now, each day has 5 hours of sunshine on average, a one-hour decrease since October. December and January will have one hour fewer still, averaging 4 hours per day.
