The year-round hot weather, many hours of sunshine and warm sea in Marsa Alam, Egypt, make it an idyllic beach holiday location throughout the year. As a winter sun getaway destination in particular, though, it is hard to beat. It's the perfect destination to escape the cold winter blues.
Temperature
While the temperatures can reach peaks that can make it uncomfortable in the summer months of July and August in particular, this is not a concern in the winter. The temperatures are unlikely to drop below 20°C during the day and you will still enjoy fantastic weather, without it reaching the extremes. In fact, the temperature averages 25°C in the afternoons, making it pleasant to lie on the beach or do some outdoor activity. At night, the mercury drops to an average of 15°C. Both the average high and low temperatures decrease a bit in the course of the month, by 3 and 2 degrees respectively. The overall average temperature in December is 20°C, which makes it the third coolest months in the year, after January and February. The temperature of the Red Sea averages 25°C this month, a warm and comfortable temperature for swimming. However, choppy seas and high wind speeds winds make diving not an ideal thing to do this time of year.
Rain
As for rain, don't expect any. Wet weather is practically a non-entity in Marsa Alam, so simply pack for the beach and the hot weather. The total amount of precipitation in December is merely 2mm, which is practically nothing. There are no real days with rainfall to speak of either.
