High's and lows of our holiday in Marrakesh
Review by: martin bocock
Weather
We went to Marrakesh the last week of October 2018. It was about 28c when we arrived towards the end of the week it had dropped down to about 12c. Much snow on top of the Atlas Mountains. Heavy rain for three days and some rain during another.
Holiday
We had one amazing day up in the Atlas Mountains, with a ride on a camel, and later a walk to waterfalls above Imlil. In Marrakesh the Bahia Palace and Saadian Tombs are really quite remarkable. Dar Si Said museum is also well worth a visit but probably more for the building that its contents, likewise the Marrakesh Museum, beautiful tiles, plaster work and carved and painted wood ceilings. Remember to look up.
Another great day out was to Jardin Majorelle, also the Secret Gardens in the midst of the soaks.
Although there were many positives, the constant harassment by young lads shouting out at you, instructing you where to go, electing themselves as your guide is the real curse of the city. They will not accept no for an answer. They try a range of approaches. Also the scams to prize money out of you in the soaks and tanneries is a nightmare. The self elected guide when we were in the tanneries became abusive when we refused him money and then very aggressive to a point that we new our safety was in danger. We then understood just what they really thought of tourists. Be prepared for a lot of money to pass through your hands as a range of scams are practiced. How a healthy tourist industry can survive in such an environment is impossible to comprehend.Recommend Marrakesh to others?

Fantastic holiday!

Weather
The weather was very hot - generally 47-50 degrees each day and around 34 degrees at 11pm at night! There was an occasional breeze, but it was so hot it was like standing in a hand dryer. Loved it though; needed to stay near a pool.
Holiday
It was the best holiday ever. The weather was wonderful, the people were so friendly and had a great sense of humour; there were so many interesting sites to see and plenty of fun things to do.
The souks were an experience to say the least, as was Djemma el Fna place. We were there during Ramadam and felt so sorry for those working in the intense heat without even a drink of water passing their lips.
Plenty of celebrations in the square at night.I would certainly return in the future and would even consider buying a Dar there for regular holidays. Wonderful, wonderful place!Recommend Marrakesh to others?

Our holiday in Marrakesh
Review by: Anonymous
Weather
The weather was very hot. Although it was July and you would expect that. There was a slight breaze which was lovely. The evening though felt hotter than ever, so you should always request a room with air conditioning. One day it went up to 47 celcius which felt as though you were walking around in a sauna.
Holiday
The hoiday was great, there was a real mixture of culture and taste. Nightlife is fun and there are many bars and new clubs opening up. There is a real mix of wealthy citizens and the poor, so be prepared to see it all. For the firts few nights we stayed in the Riad Zam Zam which was beautiful and peaceful, the english owners were very helpful and the food was probably the best of the whole holiday. I would also recommend the Sofitel Hotel which was also very good. We also travelled down too Essaouira for a few nights but it was unbeleivably windy which made it very cold. This was the only downside to the holiday.

3 centre holiday in morocco/marrakesh
Review by: Anonymous
Weather
Hot approx 68-70 degrees during the day and cool in the evenings. Great place at Easter but would be too hot in the summer.
Holiday
Marrakesh is a great base for getting about in Morrocco. The people are friendly and it feels exotic but safe. Experience the Medina and Souk where bargaining is friendly and good natured. Stay in a hidden gem - a riad hidden behind doors - and not a hotel for the true Morrocco. Food was of a high standard everywhere we went but for a real eating experience try the open air stalls in the evening in the Djemma el Fna square. We have visited Morrocco twice and love it!!
