Constitution Day 🗓
Constitution Day is relatively quiet in Malaga. Government offices, banks and most businesses are closed, though some eating places are operating. Main events for Constitution Day are carried out in Madrid, though in Malaga, the Castllan and Andalucian flags figure in prominently outside government buildings. As this may be a long holiday, locals and tourists are swarming the coast for some pre-Christmas relaxation.

Immaculate Conception Day 🛐
A public holiday as well as a day of obligation by the Church, Catholic Malaga observes the Feast of the Immaculate Conception with Holy Masses in the churches. A procession of her image is carried by city folks through the streets accompanied by the local clergy, children dressed in their white galas, and bands playing Marian songs.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 👥
Christmas Eve in Malaga is characterised by huge dinner meals for equally huge families (of 30 or so people) gathered around sumptuous jamon Serrano (cured ham), seafood, paella, mutton, turkey, roscos, and mantecados and turrones. This little 'fiesta' is enjoyed after the customary midnight Holy Mass. Typical Spanish homes always have a decorated Nativity scene rather than a Christmas tree. Walking to downtown Malaga at night, especially up the marble-paved main street of Calle Larios, one gets mesmerised by over two and a half million lights that have made Malaga famous with Christmas holidaymakers everywhere. Come Christmas Day - it is relatively quiet; still more bonding time for families and relations. And since Malaga's weather is not chilly at this time - the beaches beckon. A Merry Christmas to all!

Fiesta Mayor de Verdiales 👥
Coinciding with the playing of pranks on Los Sanots Inocentes Day, the famous Fiesta Mayor de Verdiales takes place. In Venta San Cayetano del Puerto de la Torre, outside Malaga City, a competition is held for the best song and dance troupes hailing from nearby Los Vediales, an olive-growing region. The happy songs are accompanied by clicking fingers, the costumes come with headgear decorated with bells, beads, and mirrors. Judges vote by raising their score cards. There's also jamming and practice sessions among the musicians as Malaga wine and aguardiente are passed around. Also, the sheer amount of free food and wine makes this festival so popular to thousands of locals and visitors.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day 👥
New Year's Eve is celebrated in Malaga like elsewhere - with parties, gala dinners, and fireworks. In Pamplona, CoÃn, party-goers dress up in costumes (fairies, hippies, etc.) to celebrate on the eve, as if it was a carnival. The customary eating of 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight is still observed by most, and then fireworks in the sky over the Plaza de la Constitucion or another great location is at the Malaga Port.
