Mock Battle (Moros i Cristians) 👥
This fascinating re-enactment takes place in Pollenca and is suitable for the whole family to enjoy. It's also a great opportunity to learn more about the culture and history of Majorca. The battle is between Pollensa's local hero Joan Mas and the Moor pirate invaders, led by Dragut Rais. 30th May 1550 .
This battle forms part of the La Patrona Festival which is held at the beginning of August every year. Jam packed with activities and events, this festival is one of the most popular in Majorca and incorporates musical concerts, children's entertainment, sporting exhibitions, demonstrations, various markets and all-night parties.

Las Fiestas del Rei en Jaume 👥
This lively and culture-packed event, which takes place in Santa Ponsa, Calvià celebrates the successful landing and consequent conquering of the Moors by King Jaime I in 1229.
Visitors will enjoy traditional, cultural and historic activities, including exhibitions, music concerts, fire runs, markets, parties, parades, Majorcan folk dancing and more. Previous outdoor music concerts have welcomed popular acts such as Coldday (Coldplay tribute band) and Alvarez D'Rock.
The highlights of the event will be the traditional giant parade, the DJ sessions at the weekend and the medieval market, which is a great opportunity to try local fare such as 'ensaimadas' - pastries dusted with sugar and filled with a variety of fillings including pumpkin jam and sobrasada sausage (not together!). To round things up with a bang, an impressive re-enactment of the landings and the battles takes place on Playa Grande beach and Calo d'en Pellicer beach - usually with the final battle being held on Santa Ponca beach.
Colourful firework displays mark the closing of the fiesta in the evening of the final Sunday. The actual date of the fiesta is released in July, but it's usually in the first two weeks in September.
