What's the weather like in Magaluf in October?
Magaluf is a popular holiday resort located on the south west coast of Majorca, close to the resort of Palma Nova. Tourists have been flocking here for years to enjoy the buzzing nightlife, the wonderful beaches and the warm Mediterranean weather.
By October, there will definitely be a nightly chill in the air, but that is not to say that winter is even close to settling in yet. On the contrary, locals and tourists alike act as if summer has not yet departed, partying and spending plenty of time outdoors in the sunshine. October is one of the best times to visit the resort as the weather is still enjoyable but there are much less crowds than in the peak months of June, July and August.
Temperature
The average temperature at this time of year is a pleasant 18°C while the high temperature can, and often does, still hit 23°C. At night, the average low temperature drops to 13°C which can feel a little cool with the sea breezes, so it is advised that you pack some layers to wear on an evening.
Sunshine Hours
The main way that tourists can tell it is autumn rather than summer is that the days are noticeably shorter in October. However, visitors can expect plenty of bright, sunny days. There's an average of 8 hours of sunshine a day and a 54% chance of a sunny day, while clouds only fill the skies 5% of the time. This allows plenty of time to sunbathe by the pool or on the beach.
Sea Temperature
Those who do spend their time on the beach in October should still be able to take a dip comfortably too, as the waters around the shore are still warmed from the hot summer months. The average sea temperature is a balmy 22°C at this time of year.
Rain
The only downfall to visiting Magaluf in October is that it's the wettest month of the year with 63mm of rainfall spread over 12 wet days. While this is significantly more than the summer months, it's still relatively low and generally falls in short showers that pass quickly.
Magaluf Hotels in October
Magaluf has an abundance of great accommodation options and as October is out of peak season, traveller should be able to get a great deal on a hotel.
Those who want a clean comfortable room and a base in which they can sleep, relax and prepare for a night out will find that at Sol Antilles Barbados. This four star hotel occupies a privileged location right by the beach and many of the rooms offer beautiful sea views. Suitable for guests of all ages, there's something to keep everyone entertained, including a range of outdoor pools, evening entertainment and a children's play park. Sol Antilles Barbados is typically quieter than other hotels, which can be a welcome relief from the crazy nightlife of the strip. This means that tourists will have to walk a bit farther to the main strip, but most do not mind this.
Another great option is the HSM Atlantic Park, an all-inclusive four-star hotel. This hotel is set a little further back from the beach than many of Magaluf's hotels and is located in one of the resort's most tranquil and peaceful areas. Luckily, the beach, bars and restaurants are just a short walk away, so guests can have the best of both worlds. Rooms here are modern, spacious and comfortable and each come with their own balcony.
If your idea of a great holiday is to have all the best nightlife and activities on your doorstep, look no further than the ME Majorca hotel. Set on the beachfront, the resort's world-renowned club, BCM, is just a short walk away. This hotel is highly rated, not just for its location but for its cool, contemporary décor and range of facilities, including a pool, a restaurant and a spa.
Magaluf Beach for October
Cala Major/ Mayor Beach is in Palma, under half an hour drive from Magaluf. It is great for families and is within a resort. As well as being a great place to sunbathe there are lots of bars and restaurants all around the beach. There are toilets and showers on this beach and parasols available for hire. Taking a day trip to Palma is a good idea for families and groups of friends.
Hidden in the pine woods, Cala Portals Vells Beach is a gorgeous cove within Palma Bay. You will need your own transport to reach this beach but it is throughly worth the short journey to golden sand, shimmering turquoise water and rocky cliffs.
Bars and Restaurants
Those who are worried that the party is over by October needn't be, because that certainly isn't the case. Drinks are still reasonably priced in the strip's full bars. Bonkers is one of the resort's most famous nightspots and is located right in the middle of the strip. It plays music which will appeal to all tastes, from R&B to electro and many all-time club favourites.
Another popular place to party is Chaplin's Bar which has been entertaining holiday makers for over 12 years. Located on the strip, it is known for its pre-midnight party games and great range of music which goes on until 4am.
Last but not least, if it's a hearty meal you're after, head to Robinson Crusoe's. This beach side eatery is one of the most highly rated in Magaluf thanks to its chilled outdoor seating area and menu of mouth-watering food. Try the meaty ribs or the homemade fish and chips.
Tom Brown's is one of the best place for hangover food in Magaluf. They serve a fulling english breakfast, fajitas, healthy salads, pizza and other british food. You can eat with a view of the beach and the staff here are known for being really friendly.
Things to do in Magaluf in October
Magaluf is still buzzing with activity in October and guests will find plenty to do in and around the resort.
While the weather is still great, tourists should take advantage by booking a boat trip. One of the most popular is an excursion to Dragonera Island, a natural island in the Mediterranean. The island was said to have been a refuge for notorious pirates such as Dragut and Barbarossa who used it as a base for attacks on Majorca. The boat departs from Santa Ponsa which is easily reachable from Magaluf by car or public transport and lasts 5 hours.
If you're looking for a unique activity that you can tell your friends about back home, how about a jeep excursion? A fun way to spend a whole day, the tour company will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the base. From there, you will get your own jeep to ride through the Majorcan countryside and through the mountains where you will be given a guided tour along the way. A traditional Majorcan lunch is also included.
