Lyon was the birthplace of the modern cinematic movies that everyone enjoys today. The brothers Lumière created the Cinématographe in 1895 and screened the first motion picture showing the same year. The Lumière Institute is a modern museum dedicated to the brothers and their contributions to modern film making. It contains artefacts and pieces of history from an era where creativity was just about to be taken into the realm of the infinite.
There are daily screenings of the brothers' early films as well as other early films and rare footage. A must see for any film buffs visiting Lyon!
