Los Cristianos Beach for October
Los Cristianos offers its very own sandy beach sheltered by a small harbour. The beach offers a handful of facilities including changing rooms, showers, toilets, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. It is also highly recommended to walk along the promenade found directly opposite the beach when the sun is starting to go down in the evenings.
Playa de las Americas is one of the liveliest resorts in Tenerife, located right next to Los Cristianos. October is an ideal time of year to visit this beach as it is relatively quiet and the climate is still relatively warm and rainfall is very unlikely. Bars and Restaurants
El Pincho is a popular little Spanish eatery located right by the beach in Los Cristianos. This tapas bar serves a mouthwatering list of traditional Spanish dishes including garlic bread, tortilla, patatas bravas, olives, cured meats and much more.
However, if you prefer Italian cuisine you may want to try Pizzeria Dacappo. This highly recommended restaurant offers a range of pizzas, pastas, salads and more. The restaurant also offers an outdoor terrace, which is the ideal place to sit out on a sunny day in October.
The Magic Lounge is located in the heart of Playa de las Americas' Golden Mile. During the day this place is a chilled-out café lounge and bar serving fresh salads, gourmet sandwiches, ice cold beer and thirst quenching coffees. However, when night approaches the Magic Lounge transforms into a lively bar with live music and a delicious array of alcoholic beverages.
Another option to try whilst staying in Los Cristianos is the Dreamers Cabaret Bar. This place is one of the longest established British bars in the resort and is owned by Roy Crewdson, the guitarist from the 60s band Freddie and The Dreamers. The bar features a large open terrace, located close to the beach and also offers Sky Sports on the flat-screen TVs where a variety of major sports are shown such as the Barclays Premier League and rugby.
Things to do in Los Cristianos in October
You can't visit Tenerife without visiting the stunning Teide National Park, located right in the centre of the island. This UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts a 10-mile-wide volcanic crater, named Mount Teide. This breath-taking dormant volcano rises 3,718m above sea level, making it Spain's highest peak. There are a number of hiking routes around the mountain, however, you could always get to the top via a cable car, which takes viewers 1,200m above the crater floor.
During October it is a great idea to visit one of the island's interesting traditional villages or towns as the island is relatively quiet at this time of year. Garachico is one of the most interesting towns in Tenerife. This place used to be one of the wealthiest towns on the island; however, in 1706 the town was engulfed by lava after an eruption caused by Mount Teide. Today it is one of Tenerife's most popular day-trip destinations, as there are a number of quaint little shops, cafes and restaurants found within the town's walls. If you head to the beach you will also find many intriguing rock pools, which are formed by lava.
If you're still stuck for ideas where to go to whilst staying on holiday in Los Cristianos you may be interested in the Cueva del Viento-Sobrado, which is the largest volcanic tube in the whole of Europe, and the fourth largest in the world. This mesmerising natural underground tunnel runs for over 11 miles, featuring three different passage levels which are made up of various lava formations. The cave itself was actually created by lava flows from Pico Viejo, found next to Mount Teide. Guided tours take place from Tuesday to Saturday and advanced booking is highly recommended if you're travelling to Tenerife during the height of the tourist season.
October is a great time of year to play at least one round of golf as the climate is very comfortable. Los Palos Golf Course is a par 27, nine-hole course, located just a couple of minutes drive away from Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. The course also offers a chipping area, driving range, putting green and PGA professional available for private tuition.

In nearby Buenavista del Norte, the Fiestas de Los Remedios is held during this month. Tourists who would like to see a traditional Spanish celebration but missed the earlier ones in Los Cristianos can make the short trip to see this one which honours the patron saint of Buenavista del Norte with fireworks, music, dancing, drinking, and all types of performances.
On the other hand, the National Day Festival (Dia de la Hispanidad) is held every year on October 12th. This is a religious festival, celebrating the heritage and history of Spain. There are various festivities and events being held across the island of Tenerife to celebrate this national holiday.
The Opera Season in Tenerife lasts from October to December, with many fabulous opera performances held at the Auditorio de Tenerife.
