Dates for the diary
The festivals of Los Cristianos are not designed for tourists' entertainment the way some are in more popular destinations. Since many consider Los Cristianos a place to relax and "lay low" in the Canary Islands, its festivals tend to be more authentic and less public.
This is the case, at least, with the Dia de La Cruz, or Day of the Cross, held in the beginning of May. Citizens elaborately decorate crosses all over town with eye-catching adornments.
This holiday coincides with Tenerife's anniversary of being founded, so the celebration is especially festive there. Santa Cruz holds costume parties, and Puerto de La Cruz has an amazing fireworks show.
