Things to do in Los Cristianos in January
Genuine Fishing in Los Cristianos, Tenerife offers a variety of fishing excursions from four hours up to seven hours. There are many different fish species swimming under the water here including Blue Fin, Spearfish, Barracuda and Skipjack, depending on the seasons. However, they also offer private charters and specialist trips where you and your friends or family can concentrate on what you really want to catch such as Tuna fish or even sharks.
The Teide National Park is just under an hours drive away from Los Cristianos. Declared a national park back in 1954, this area of stunning natural beauty features an enormous volcanic crater, which measures up to 30 miles in circumference. Known as Mount Teide, this currently dormant volcano rises up to 12,200 feet, making it the highest peak in the whole of Spain. During the winter months, Mount Teide is often below freezing and is covered in snow.
Off the coast of Tenerife and La Gomera there are around 28 species of both resident and migratory whales and dolphins which swim through the waters. If you are a lover of wildlife you should definitely hop on one of the daily whale watching and dolphin trips that leave three times a day from Los Cristianos Harbour.
As Tenerife is a relatively small island you can see most of it without having to travel very far. San Cristobal La Laguna is a highly recommended trip whilst staying in the area of Los Cristianos. Once the capital of Tenerife, this historic and charming city has now become a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which features beautifully preserved architecture from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.
