What's the Weather Like in Liverpool in September

September is the first month of autumn for Liverpool and also marks the beginning of a significant cool down. Even though temperatures are beginning to fall, now is still a good time to see the area and the city as many of the crowds stay home. Additionally, it is still warm enough to go for a swim in the nearby waters. As a result, this can be a good month to visit if you still want some beach time without the summer crowds.

Temperature

Visitors will want to consult an extended forecast before leaving home because a brief cooler than normal spell is not out of the question. The average overall daily temperature for this time of the year is just 13°C (55°F). Afternoon temperatures can still be rather pleasant with highs reaching 17°C (63°F), but mornings are on the chilly side with average overnight lows falling to 10°C (50°F).

Water Temperature

Water temperatures during this time of the year are just slightly cooler than they were during the month of August. Overall temperatures will average 15°C (59°F) for the month.

Sunshine Hours

However, the region only receives an average of 6 hours of sunshine per day. Therefore, you will need to make the most of the sun in order to work on a late season tan.

Rain

Visitors will also want to be sure to pack some raingear, as the number of days experiencing rainfall remains high. Almost half of the month is on the wet side with an average of 14 days receiving at least some measureable rainfall. However, this is also one of the driest months of the year with only 43mm of precipitation expected. Most of the rain is light or will come in brief showers that allow visitors to continue with their activities without too much hassle.
