Introduction:

Lindos is a town on the Greek island of Rhodes, situated on its eastern coast, approximately 55k south of the town of Rhodes.

Types of Holiday-goers

With warm climate and sandy beaches, Lindos provides relaxing holidays for a variety of holiday-goers, including families, young singles and older tourists.

The Best Time to Visit

Lindos closes down after October, so the best time of year to visit the resort is from April to October.

In April, the temperature is beginning to warm and there is only a small amount of precipitation.

May brings balmy and even warmer temperatures and the weather is perfect for beach lovers from June through September.

Temperatures start to taper off by October, with occasional autumn shower.

Activities

The beaches of Lindos provide plenty of water-related activities, including diving, jet skiing, windsurfing, swimming, and snorkelling.

Youâll also want to visit the ancient buildings and sites, including the Acropolis that overlooks the town.

Tourists also flock to St. Paulâs Bay, which is reportedly where the apostle Paul was said to have landed after a storm at sea.

In addition, travellers frequently visit the various churches on the island, such as the Panagia Church and the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Peter, which was built in the thirteenth century.

Beaches

Lindos beaches are a compelling reason to visit Lindos from late spring to early autumn.

Beachcombers enjoy exploring Lindos Beach. Itâs also a place to try out water sports, including swimming and snorkelling.

The Pallas Beach is similar to the main beach of Lindos, and also offers tourists sun beds for relaxing along the shore as well as water sports.

The St. Paulâs Beach, a smaller, quieter beach, is located next to St. Paulâs Chapel, a popular sanctuary for weddings.

Sights and Attractions

The Acropolis of Lindos, a major historical site dating back to the ancient Greeks, provides tourists with panoramic views of the water and surrounding area.

Sitting above the town, the Acropolis features a number of archaeological attractions, such as the Doric Temple of Athena Lindia (from 300 BC), the Propylaea of the Sanctuary (which was built during the same time), a Hellenistic stairway, which leads to the main part of the Acropolis, and the remains of a temple built by the Romans in the fourth century AD.

The Tomb of Cleobulus, who was one of the Seven Sages of Ancient Greece, is also in Lindos.
