Hit the Beach

Kourion Beach

If you have an itch to get out of the city, take a bus out to Kourion beach, where you'll find the archaeological ruins of Kourion or Curium. The beach lies just 17 kilometres from Limassol, just beyond the rough cliffs of the Akrotiri peninsula. At Kourion Beach you'll find a few beach tavernas--but be cautioned, the strong currents of the southern end are only to be braved by the strongest of swimmers, particularly in the autumn and winter seasons. The sea is quite warm and has an average temperature of 22°C, which is excellent for swimming.

Bars and Restaurants

Cypriot cuisine resembles, for the most part, Greek cuisinehough there have been influences from the Levant and Turkey. You're sure to find all your favorites like moussaka, souvlaki, keftedes, tzatziki and mezze. Seafood is delicious and freshly caught. Of local delicacies, there is halloumi, a goat or ewe cheese soaked in brine, which is best served grilled. There is also lountza, pork fillet, loukanika smoked sausage, and tiropites, which are cheeses wrapped in phyllo dough.

Be sure to try the delicious desserts available at many Cypriot restaurants. Loukoumades are fried balls in syrup, loukoumi (otherwise known as Turkish Delight) and quince preserves. 

Things to Do in Limassol in Novemebr

Cyprus Rally

During November, holidaymakers will have the chance to witness the Cyprus Rally. The event was first held in 1971 and used to be held in May, but the dates were recently changed to November. The rally event lasts for three days and drivers are expected to navigate the mountain roads of Troodos and some of the streets of Limassol which can be exciting.

Rainbow Festival

The Rainbow Festival is also held in November. The festival's organizers hold the event annually as they want to eradicate racism from the island. It brings people from all walks of life, from the very affluent in society to the refugees.

Limassol Winery

People on holiday should also tour the wineries and vineyards in November. The weather is quite cool and it will be easier to visit the fields. It is interesting to see how the Cypriots have kept their wine making industry alive for hundreds of years. Holidaymakers will also have the chance to sample some of the Limassol's excellent wine.

Aphrodite's Rock

Aphrodite's Rock lies 43 kilometers west of Limassol. This is where the goddess Aphrodite is said to have emerged from the waves. Two large rocks sit in the shallow surf, and are one of Cyprus' most photographed scenes. It is said to have inspired Botticeli's famous painting, the Birth of Venus.

Mymall

If you're looking for a fun place to shop, head over to Mymall, the largest shopping center on the island. You'll find everything from shoes and jewelry to ice rink and bowling alley. You can also check out the high-end department stores between Makarios Ave and Anexartisias Ave. Then spend the rest of the evening burning the midnight oil along the seafront nightclubs, karaoke bars and ice cream parlors.
