The town of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Levanto is located on the Italian Riviera in the province of La Spezia in the region of Liguria in the country of Italy, 60 kilometres southeast of Genoa. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The town is at the end of a valley on the coast, decorated with olive and pine trees with the valley leading to the sea. The topography is two thirds mountainess with the rest being hills.
Levanto has a temperate climate. The weather is mild throughout the year due to the hills lying behind the coast and the beneficial influence of the sea. The temperatures during winter average between 120C and 130C and the temperatures during summer averaging between 260C and 280C. The mountains create a unique microclimate. The continuous onshore breeze keeps the climate mild throughout the year.
Levanto is such a charming and intimate town with only a population of 5000. There are plenty of attractions such as castles, public gardens, amazing architecture and historic churches where their bells are rung to signal the time of day. If you like the outdoors there are plenty of activities to do: tennis, scuba diving, surfing, bike rentals and boats. There are beautiful beaches and a swimming pool that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. You can also go walking or hiking into the mountains.
