Leeds is an ideal place to visit in September as temperatures are still somewhat warm, and it doesn't rain as much as it does in July and August.
The city's average temperature falls at around 54 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale or 12 degrees Celsius.
During the day, the daily high temperature tapers off at 63 degrees Fahrenheit (or 17 degrees Celsius) before taking a plunge to an average low of 48 degrees Fahrenheit (9 degrees Celsius).
Again, average precipitation in August is lower at 59 mm and the sun shines brightly for four hours out of 13 hours of recorded daylight.
For those who like to walk or ride a bike, the paths along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal are ideal. The canal, which connects the city of Leeds with Liverpool, spans a distance of almost 130 miles. The waterway, which is located a short distance from the City Centre, is close to a number of area parks too, including the Kirkstall Valley Nature Reserve and Bramley Falls. Some visitors choose to take a boat ride down the canal, chartering a vessel at the Lower Park Marina in Barnoldswick.
Another popular tourist site is Kirkstall Abbey, which is free to visitors. The abbey was founded in 1152, and donated to Leeds in 1889. St. Anne's Cathedral in Leeds is also a popular site, noted for its Italian marble altar in the sanctuary.
