What's the Weather like in Lake Maggiore in March

Temperature

Marking the start of spring, March comes to Lake Maggiore with a bang and a large jump in the average daily temperature over that of February. Now is the time to hike through the surrounding forests or walk around the quaint towns. In March, the average temperature sits around 7°C (about 45°F), 3 degrees above February and a nice temperature for being outside and exploring the area. Unfortunately, the rainfall amounts are also increasing, up to 74 mm during this time.

Rainfall

The rain falls over an average of 13 days in the month, so you can still get more dry days than wet days and usually the rainfall is short and light. You'll probably still want to bring along an umbrella or poncho just in case. It's still cold enough this time of the year that you'll want a coat or jacket and long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, and cardigans to layer underneath.

Average Sunshine Hours

The days start getting long too with the advent of spring, and this month sees an average of 8 hours of sunshine each day and a 25 percent chance of a sunny day. The chance of rain is 40 percent and the chance of a cloudy day is 50 percent. Snow isn't likely anymore with the low temperature dropping to just above freezing at 1°C (about 34°F). Typically, you'll only see those temperatures at night and in the higher parts around the lake. The high temperature reaches up to a nice and warm 13°C (around 55°F), where you'll just need a light-weight jacket or sweater.

Highest and Lowest Recorded Temperatures in March

The highest recorded temperature for this resort that is a part of Italy was a very balmy 28°C (about 82°F), unheard of for this part of Europe this time of the year. The extreme low for the area was -6°C (about 21°F), extra chilly for the spring.
