Weather lowdown

Lake Como is located in the north of Italy, in the Lombardy region and is an area of stunning natural beauty. Part of the Italian Lake District, the region is known for its breath-taking mountain and lake views which draw visitors from all over the world.

Lake Como enjoys a warm and pleasant Mediterranean climate with warm temperatures and sunshine all year round. September is no exception and is a great time to travel to this area.

September marks the end of summer and has the best of both worlds when it comes to the weather; the summer sun brings warmth, but the sweltering heat of the previous months disappears so travellers should find September a lot more comfortable. Average temperatures sit around 18°C during the month, with highs that can reach 22°C on warmer days. The lake provides lovely cooling breezes. Nights in Lake Como in September can get a little colder as low temperatures drop, but it should never fall below 14°C throughout the month.

The summer months in Lake Como do see some wet weather and rainfall in September is similar to that of August but slightly higher; the month sees around 105mm of rainfall spread over an average of 10 wet days. This means that even if things do get a little hot, there's always the odd rain shower for cooling down. Visitors are recommended to bright a light rain jacket.

Fortunately, there is plenty of sunshine in September to make up for the odd wet day. Although sunshine hours are decreasing, there's still 9 sunny hours every day, which is more than enough to enjoy the outdoors and return home with a tan.

If you're planning a holiday to Lake Como, September is a recommended time to visit, with pleasant temperatures and an abundance of sunshine. After peak summer season, the region should be starting to get less crowded too.
