Perhaps known as the ultimate early summer month, the weather in June is the hottest so far in the year with average temperatures of 22°C expected every day. Average high temperatures reach a very beautiful 25°C in June, however it has been known for the thermometer to peak as high as 34°C during the month a record temperature that was experienced back in 2009.

While the days are hot, there is not much respite in the evenings. Average lows fall to just 18°C, making air conditioning an essential amenity in any accommodation in Lagos. It has been known for temperatures to fall as low as 12°C. But this type of weather is very sporadic, and warmer nights are much more likely throughout the entire peak season.

While the weather is hot, the chance of rainfall during the summer months is almost negligible. In June there is the chance of seeing some moisture on up to 5 days of the month. But this usually comes in the form of very light rain or a quick shower which is over before it has begun. Only 16mm of rain are likely to fall throughout the entire month of June, and it is very common not to see any rain at all.

Thanks to dryness of the heat, humidity is never an issue in Lagos. In June, humidity levels will reach only 73%, offering a very comfortable climate for the wealth of visitors that arrive. And with the coastal location of this popular region, the cool sea air may even provide a slight freshness when vising the most exposed areas.

Warm sea temperatures averaging 20°C ensure the water is only slightly cooler than the air. This makes June the perfect time to enjoy some water activities in June, when body boarding and scuba diving are particularly popular.  13 hours of daily sunshine ensure visitors should always be wary of the power of the heat, especially during peak times. But with the right protection and a good plan of activities, a visit to Lagos in June is something you won't forget.

The Vivenda Miranda is a beautifully authentic 17th century villa situated right on the beach in Lagos. In the warm June month it becomes a haven for Honeymooners, tourists and those that want to enjoy the beauty of the region. Delicious Mediterranean food, spacious rooms with exceptional views and fabulous grounds, ensure a little luxury is never far away. Even the pool is heated, offering comfort if there is ever a cool day. But most visitors will simply lap up the luxury and enjoy what is an exquisite place to stay.

You can arrive at Casa Offshore having never surfed in your life and go home feeling like a pro. This water sports activity based lodge is the ideal place to stay when you want a fun fuelled holiday. All the training you need can be included within your stay, whether it's surfing or kite surfing you have in mind. Then after a hard day on the waves, relax by the pool, have a snooze in a hammock or let the hot tub melt away your aches and pains. With regular pizza and BBQ nights thrown into the mix, it's 24 hour fun every day of the year.

The waterside location of Hotel Marina Rio provides the perfect view from almost every angle. Large spacious communal areas and private rooms offer the most elegant ambience to this beautiful accommodation. But for the most spectacular views, there is nothing like a trip to the Roof Top Terrace for the ideal way to enjoy the warm June air. And if it gets too hot, there is even a small pool up there to take a quick dip. For families, couples or groups, the Hotel Mariana Rio is the perfect base for any trip to Lagos.

The most popular beach in Lagos has to be Meia Praia. 4 km of beautiful smooth sand make this the perfect location for beach goers as soon as the sun comes out. There is plenty of space to play games and enjoy your time on the sand. And when the tide goes out, little beach pools remain, perfect for the water loving toddler. June is the ideal time to visit Meia Praia, while the beach is relatively quiet. But don't think that you will be the only ones there. Meia Praia is always popular.

Porto de Mos is the beach situated next to the Vivenda Miranda hotel. But it is also accessible to the public. Take a walk through the tropical gardens of the hotel and you will find yourself on the long stretch of beautiful sand that makes up Porto de Mos. Or use the large car park behind the beach. Two beachside restaurants offer a wealth of refreshment while a large collection of sunbeds and parasols offer the ideal respite when that June sun gets a little too powerful.

As the sun goes down, follow The Star, for a fantastic night out in Lagos. From quiz nights, karaoke and really good music, the atmosphere is buzzing when those warm June nights hit. For Happy Hour cocktails that last most of the night and a really lively atmosphere, head over to Eddie's Bar in the centre of Lagos. It's a fun, cheap place to stop for a drink and then maybe stay for one or two more. A very welcoming typically English atmosphere means it is as popular with the ex-pats as it is with the tourists. And if the Rugby is on, you know there will always be a showing thanks to the patriotic crowd. On a busy June night, guests can flood out onto the terrace. But a very positive atmosphere and friendly crowd ensure everyone is there to have fun.

The Cafe Odeon is an authentic American Diner in the middle of Lagos that offers truly delicious food for everyone. From a beautiful English breakfast, to an incredible lunch or early evening dinner. The food is sensational, the portions are outstanding and the service is always very friendly. The American style pancakes are the perfect way to start the day after a night out partying. A trip to Lagos is never going to be complete without a visit to the Zoo. The Zoo Lagos, first opened its doors in November 2000 offering the perfect opportunity to enjoy a whole host of natural and global animal favourites. With regular feeding events and scheduled activities, make sure you check the website before your trip and plan your day well. There is even a high class restaurant onsite to enjoy a late afternoon meal. For families, couples or sole travellers, the Zoo Lagos is waiting for you to explore.

With the clear waters surrounding the entire coastal region of Lagos, Scuba Diving is now becoming a national past time. Dive Club Cipreia is one of the many dive companies within Lagos that will offer guidance and support to divers of all abilities. Even if you've never experienced this underwater phenomenon before, after a dive in Lagos waters you are sure to be hooked. Or even if snorkelling is more your thing, their guided tours will take you to places that are simply out of this world.
