Lagos weather in July can be described in one simple word fabulous! This is the warmest month of the year in this part of Portugal. And with wall to wall sunshine thrown into the mix, it's not surprising that people come here every year in their thousands.

Temperatures average 24°C throughout almost every day in July with highs in the middle of the day reaching an incredibly beautiful 28°C. But the climate has got a lot warmer in record years. 2004 offered visitors a peak temperature close to 38°C with many other years coming close to it!

Even in the depths of night, Lagos never gets chilly. Minimum temperatures of 20°C make it far too tempting to go for a midnight swim. And with average sea temperatures also reaching a very pleasant 23°C at this time of the year, it's more like going for a bath than taking a dip.

The coldest temperature ever recorded in Lagos during July was still a very balmy 14°C. And with next to no rain falling in the entire month, this is the kind of holiday weather everyone is looking for.

If you are one of the unlucky ones that finds rain has been forecast, there's still no need to panic. With an estimated 2mm of rain expected to fall on that one day, you probably won't even notice if it does happen.

July also boasts the highest number of daily sunshine hours in Lagos with a full 14 hours of daylight expected every single day. But thanks to the coastal location and a beautifully fresh breeze providing movement to the air, humidity levels of 73% area always comfortable.  The July weather in Lagos is perfect for beach holidays, sightseeing and active adventures. Just make sure you have a lot of sun protection and take even greater care in the midday sun.

The Dom Manuel Hotel is probably one of the most highly rated places to stay in Lagos for couples. Being a golf resort, you will need a car to reach the local town and beaches but it is the ideal place to stay for families or golfing parties, especially when they want to improve their handicap. 

The Shelter is a fantastic place to stay for no frills accommodation when you want to visit Lagos on a budget. This hostel is only a five minute walk into the centre of town and offers a combination of shared and single rooms. Have a chilled night relaxing on a hammock sharing a few cold ones with the other guests. Or take a trip into the centre and enjoy the bountiful night life. During the day, the beach calls and it can be heard loud and clear from this location. It's like staying with family, only sometime you will feel a lot more welcome.

 

Praia do Pinhao is a quieter, smaller beach in Lagos that is truly beautiful. Even in July it is usually possible to find yourself a nice spot on Praia do Pinhao. Caves skirt around one edge of the beach, offering the perfect place to have an adventure. Just watch out for the cliff divers that will be enjoying the warm Portuguese sea. With no facilities on the beach, it is wise to take refreshments with you. Otherwise it's a walk to the fire station to see the very pleasant firemen who always have a few cans on sale.

Praia Dona Ana is a beach in Lagos where you will always find the crowds. This highly popular tourist beach is situated very close to Lagos town, providing easy access for everyone. And thanks to its award for natural beauty in 2014, everyone wants to see it. The organic stone structures provide interest to the landscape while the restaurants and onsite facilities ensure everything is catered for. Just don't be in a hurry to leave at the end of the day, the sunsets from Praia Dona Ana are some of the most beautiful in the world.

It's all going on in Lendas Bar in July. Great food, great atmosphere, delicious drinks and fair prices make it one of the most popular places to be seen. High quality ingredients ensure every dish is full of flavour from the Cristiano Ronaldo burger at the bar to the more formal meal setting in the main restaurant. Even in the day, beautiful food is always on offer. And with a vast array of delicious cocktails and cool beers to wash it down, it's a great place to be.

Mynt Bar claims that it offers some of the best live music in the whole of Lagos, and they just might be right. A wealth of different high quality acts entertain the mass of visitors that come to Mynt Bar every night. And they all leave very happy indeed. Super cheap cocktails, a lively atmosphere and friendly staff ensure everyone has fun when they come to Mynt. Just don't expect to be going home too early. When the party starts at the Mynt Bar, no one wants to leave.

The Restaurant Vivendo is a wonderful place to go to sample some truly delicious Mediterranean cuisine. All the dishes on offer here are prepared with only the freshest ingredients. Yet the restaurant is still able to offer very good value for money. Try the five course fixed price menu to sample some of the best fine dining Restaurant Vivendo has to offer. With excellent service and a very pleasant atmosphere, it's the perfect place to go for a special evening in Lagos.

In the heat of the July sun, take to the sea with one of the many boating trips available from the harbour. For great prices and a wide choice of locations, look out for Bom Dia  Boat Trips. Their Grotto Trips are legendary. Take the larger boat round to Ponta da Piedade beach before transferring into a smaller boat to explore the caves and grottos of the region. There's always time for a quick swim before boarding back onto the larger boat. And then ample opportunity for a sunbathe on the gentle sail back home.

There are a wealth of Golf Courses around Lagos that will ensure any keen golfer can get their fill.
