Located on the Greek Island of Zakynthos; Laganas is situated in the southern region of Greece and features a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers, mild winters and loads of sunshine throughout the year. The most ideal time of the year to vacation to Laganas is between the months of April until September whist the sun is at its brightest and most powerful and the temperatures are at their finest. Similar to many other Greek resorts the summers hot climates are tempered by the cooling Meltemia breezes that help lower the scorching temperatures. If achieving a tan isnât at the top of your list and youâd rather vacation at a more peaceful, relaxing time away from the crowds, head to Laganas outside of the high season in late September or October, while the temperatures are still pleasant and the crowds have died down.
The climate throughout Laganas remains mild year round with the area taking pleasure in over 3000 hours of sunshine every year. With locality in the Ionian Islands the typical weather of Laganas is 100 percent authentic Mediterranean. The extensive summer season and common conditions are perfect for a holiday relaxing on the beach.
Spring
Spring will commonly see climates start to ascend throughout March into April as highs rise from 14ºC to 19ºC during April peaking between 18ºC to 20ºC in May and towards the commencement of summer. The temperature will be to drop in the early evenings and night time can feel quite chilly. However the water is still warm enough to swim and the overall conditions are very pleasing.
Summer
By June the average climate will typically rise from 24ºC peaking at 26ºC by August and occasionally reaching over 30ºC. July and August will usually see up to twelve hours of hot sunshine everyday. Even though when climates do reach over 30ºC, it will rarely feel that hot as the constant meltemi trade winds that blow from the north throughout Greece generally cool and lower the temperatures.
Autumn
The autumn months will see climates very similar to spring, with the slight increase of rainfall. The sun will still shine down brightly for seven to eight hours per day throughout October, as this month will also mark the end of the peak season.
Winter
From November to December the average temperature will fall to lows between 14ºC and 16ºC, whilst descending to 11ºC in January. Winter is also the regions wettest season, as December averages almost 200mm of rain, and will obtain the most precipitation of the yearly intake. The months outside of winter will receive enough precipitation to keep the surrounding environment lush and green and very picturesque.
