Across the Costa Blanca temperatures reach their peak, and visitors from all over Europe and the world flock to the resorts that crowd the gorgeous beaches in this part of Spain. Located just south and west from the larger town of Torrevieja, La Zenia has the well-deserved reputation as a sun soaked resort town. The weather in La Zenia in August is hot and dry, but a cool, sea breeze makes it bearable.

Hotels in La Zenia in August

The nearby town of Torrevieja fosters an exciting and upbeat environment throughout the summer months. While the town is not known for a party atmosphere, it can be quite the contrast to quiet, peaceful La Zenia. However, with more accommodation options Torrevieja is the base for many visitors to La Zenia.

Aparthotel Ona Aldea del Mar

Located on the outskirts of the town, and right along the seaside is the pristine and impressive Aparthotel Ona Aldea del Mar. Comprised of large, clean serviced apartments, the Aparthotel Ona Aldea del Mar is a great option for families on an all-out holiday or couples seeking a romantic getaway. The additional space of a sitting area and kitchenette make Aparthotel Ona Aldea del Mar feel like a home away from home. As Aparthotel Ona Aldea del Mar is situated in a residential neighborhood, it is a wonderful option away from the package tourism crowds. Yet, with a location a mere 6 minutes walk from the beach it is an accommodation option that is tough to pass up.

Hotel Servigroup La Zenia

The only hotel located within the boundaries of La Zenia is the impressive Hotel Servigroup La Zenia. The property of this hotel is situated directly on the beach and includes direct beach access. A second beach is within walking distance of this larger hotel. While the location and services offered at this hotel make it appear upscale in nature, the atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing. The hotel is surrounded by Spanish homes, and as it is located in quiet La Zenia a stay here feels a bit less crowded than close by Torrevieja.

Aparthotel Atlas

Some guests may want a bit of distance between them and the shopping center in La Zenia, a great option is the Aparthotel Atlas. These serviced apartments are located outside of Torrevieja and just north of La Zenia.

Hit the Beach

Orihuela beach

While the Costa Blanca includes a large area along the southeastern coast of Spain, the stretch of sand where La Zenia is located is also known as the Orihuela Costa. Taking its name from the interior town of Orihuela, there are a number of beaches for visitors to enjoy. To the south of La Zenia is a beach known as Cabo Roig. Visitors can walk along the promenade from La Zenia to visit Cabo Roig, and once there can find a small bar serving drinks and snacks. It is an easy excursion for the whole family.

Bars and Restaurants

Sofabar

Casual, yet classic, the atmosphere at Sofabar is perfect for its seaside location. The many outdoor tables are often full, a sign of the consistent service at this bar/restaurant. This oceanfront venue closes for the winter, like a number of restaurants near Playa Flamenca just north of central La Zenia, but at the height of summer this place is the popular place to grab a drink or a laidback meal.

Milo's Bar

Another great laidback restaurant option along Playa Flamenca is Milo's Bar. The terrace at this seaside location is perfect for morning coffee, an afternoon snack or a beer before dinner. The seafood and fish options are good, as well. Visitors should also consider the American diner themed Al & Benny's, which is conveniently located in central La Zenia. The milkshakes are a sure way to cool down on a hot August afternoon.

Things to Do in La Zenia in August

Do You Wanna

The hot temperatures of August means it is time to hit the water, and stay there. Visitors will seek refreshing dips in the nearby sea and spend day after day on the beautiful beaches around La Zenia. However, La Zenia and the surrounding Costa Blanca offer many options for sports and activities out on the water. Located in Alicante, Do You Wanna has experienced guides for trips paragliding and parasailing. It is a great way to try something exciting, new and refreshing on the hottest of August days.

Dive! Dive! Dive!

The Costa Blanca is better known for relaxing on the sand than searching the depths of the ocean, but that does not mean dive enthusiasts can't find opportunities to take a drive trip. The days of August, with its warm weather and warm sea temperatures, are the perfect time to explore under the sea. Dive! Dive! Dive! is one of the better dive shops located on the Costa Blanca. The owner Geoff Ridden is also most likely to be your instructor, and the dive shop even offers PADI courses for those that want to become dive certified.
