In September, the island can see sizzling highs of 27°C and lows of 21°C, but hardly ever gets any colder than this.

Fiestas Columbinas

In September, the island of La Gomera celebrates two significant festivals. The first, Fiestas Columbinas, are festivals dedicated to the voyage of Christopher Columbus. He and his exploration team left from Gomera and set sail for India before landing on North American shores. Fiestas Columbinas celebrates the island's history with parties, illuminations and other activities. The latter festival, Fiesta del Paso is observed especially in Alajero, a village in southern Gomera. During this festival, locals don traditional garb and journey from the peak of a mountain into the city.

Oceano Whale Watching

The shores around La Gomera are home to some amazing wildlife, and there's no better way to witness it than getting out onto the water itself. Dolphin and whale watching boat tours are a great way to spend a day in La Gomera. Oceano Whale Watching organizes guided excursions out to sea where holiday makers can spot some of these wonderful animals and even take a swim in the Atlantic.
