What's the weather like in Kyrenia in February?

Temperature

Kyrenia has some amazing sandy beaches in addition to the stunning crescent-shaped harbour, which is the picturesque launch pad for some brilliant boat tours. During the month of February, Kyrenia is relatively cool despite the fact that it is still sunny and marks an average monthly temperature of 10°C (50°F). The sea water temperature stands at 17°C (62°F). There are about 6 hours of average daily sunshine.

Rocks Hotel Casino is a good choice of hotel and is located right near the sea, plus allows for easy access to the various amenities in Kyrenia. There are deluxe rooms and suites, some with sea views, and each is equipped with A/C, minibar, semi-balcony, and bathtub with shower. Limo service and airport greeting are available on request. Play after lunch in the onsite casino, which offers everything from blackjack to poker, or take a dip in a Turkish bath at the spa. The hotel offers three main restaurants, a cafe and two bars.

 

Beaches in Kyrenia in February

Acapulco Beach

Though February is a cool month in Kyrenia, visitors can still enjoy the long stretches of sand at any one of its many beaches. Head over to Acapulco beach, which provides an array of facilities for beach loungers. Its clear waters attract many water sports enthusiasts, especially those devoted to windsurfing. Do note that there are strong currents, so children should be supervised at all times.

Mare Monte Beach

Mare Monte beach belongs to the eponymous hotel and though private it is extremely popular with the locals. Onsite facilities include the usual bar, showers, and sun loungers. The ruins of the 13th century port of Lambousa are nearby, though at the moment they are closed to visitors.

Ikimiz Restaurant

Ikimiz Restaurant  is a great find in terms of traditional Turkish fare. Tucked away in the back streets of old town, it's a bit hard to locate but definitely worth it in terms of tastiness. The decor is a rustic mix of tables and chalkboards, with friendly service in a small walled garden.

The Ambiance

The Ambiance is a modest restaurant overlooking an old mill and the Mediterranean sea. The menu is diverse, and mostly seafood with a mix of European and Turkish flair. The view is lovely, a perfect setting to bring your date.

Things to Do in Kyrenia in February

Ancient Shipwreck Museum

Head to the Ancient Shipwreck Museum located right inside Kyrenia Castle for an enjoyable and engaging day out. This shipwreck is estimated to have been built during the days of Alexander the Great and sunk off the coast of Kyrenia over 2,300 years ago.

Karaoglanoglu

A great way to spend the day is a drive out to nearby Turkish villages. Karaoglanoglu is located three miles west of Kyrenia, and offers visitors a few excellent beaches, bars and restaurants. Head down to the stunning Kervansaray Beach for some exquisite sunsets.

Alsancak

Alsancak, located 6 miles west of Kyrenia, offers spectacular views of a pretty harbour, and easy access to restaurants and beaches. The historical village of Bellapais, located 3 miles to the east of Kyrenia, is a haven for history-buffs. Wander around the town's old 12th-century abbey, one of the best preserved Gothic buildings in Cyprus. The abbey is next to a cafe and overlooks the village of Ozankoy.

Karmi

Four miles west of Kyrenia is Karmi, arguably the prettiest village due to its traditional terraces and stone arches. It's worth spending a few hours here, sipping a coffee or browsing in a local shop for souvenirs.
