Weather Lowdown

Valentine's Day is the ideal time to visit Kuredu, as romance is all around you, simply in the form of the scenery you will experience. The chance to kick back and relax is made so much easier by the fantastic weather on offer during this time of year, as February falls within the dry season. This region of the world is obviously very popular with honeymooners, however you don't have to be celebrating a special occasion to enjoy the amazing weather on offer.

Whilst there is always the unpredictable chance of a shower no matter what month you are visiting, there will generally be warning from forecasts, and this time of year experiences less in the way of precipitation than some of the other months, with an average of just 5 days out of the month affected by rain to some degree.

The average temperature is a wonderful 28°C, which can reach as high as 31°C during the hottest part of the day. Humidity is generally high no matter what the month in the Maldives, however this particular time of year is less so than later on in the calendar, so a good time to visit for those seeking less in the way of 'sticky' weather. Evenings are mild, with the average low falling to around 25°C, making evenings out very pleasant indeed.

The sun shines in abundance in the Maldives, which makes it one of the best destinations in the world for a luxurious beach holiday, and the second month of the year experiences an average of around 9 hours of sunshine per day this is one of the months with the most in the way of bright sunlight. To work hand in hand with that, you can expect the Indian Ocean to be very warm indeed, with an average water temperature of 28°C, perfect for cooling down, and enjoying the plentiful water-based activities, such as diving and boat trips around the region.

Where to Stay

The fantastic Kuredu Island Resort & Spa Hotel covers every single area of your holiday, and the huge range of accommodation options means that no matter what your budget, you can find a suitable base for your holiday in literal paradise. One of those options, and one which everyone dreams of staying in, is the iconic Sangu Water Villas. These are ideal for a romantic holiday during February, whether you're visiting for Valentine's Day or not.

Now, if you've ever dreamed of staying in a bungalow over the water, set on wooden stilts, and the impossible blue of the water beneath you, then this is the picture you need to be aiming for. Again, not cheap, but certainly worth it.

This is the ideal setting for a romantic break, and the villas are connected to the main resort by a wooden walkway, with a secluded veranda where you can sit and chill out with a drink in hand, and enjoy the stunning sunset. The villas are also near to the resort's famous Sandbank, which is the main natural feature around the area. If you're on honeymoon, head to the Honeymoon Suite, where you will be treated to an outdoor Jacuzzi bath tub too.

Alternatively, still within the Lhaviyani Atoll you will find Palm Beach Resort & Spa Maldives, which is an equally as opulent choice as our previous one. There are many different dining options to choose from here, so you can tailor-make your holiday to suit your needs, with plentiful activities on offer to keep you occupied, if you so wish.

Head to the Coconut Spa for a relaxing massage and a few treatments, or have a private candlelit dinner on the jetty for true romance.

What to Do

Whichever island you are visiting, the underwater world has to play a huge part in your holiday. Diving is something you simply have to try, whether you're a beginner or an experienced diver, and there are instructors on hand to help out with advice. Prodivers are the island's iconic dive specialists, and they will take you to some of their particular favourite dive sites, giving you the best of the marine-life around these very clear waters.

There are many colourful reefs around the island, and they are inhabited by equally as colourful fish, sea turtles, and reef sharks, as well as the region's famous Manta rays, which you need to keep your fingers crossed to see. These majestic creatures will certainly make your holiday something extra special.

You can night dive if you are an experienced diver, so simply enquire with your hotel over which sites are the best. There are around 60 dive sites around the island, including Caves Community where you will see those aforementioned sea turtles and stingrays, as well as nearby Anemone Thila, which is a beautiful and colourful dive site to visit. Put simply, a diving excursion is one of those must do activities which your holiday would not be complete without.

February is the month of love, with Valentine's Day making an appearance, and one of the most opulent activities you can do together as a couple is to enjoy a couple's massage at the main resort hotel's spa. Duniye Spa has a 'Heaven on Earth' signature treatment, which basically leaves you feeling completely Zenned out, and is one for those who want to kick back and relax. Over Water Spa at the O Resort certainly doesn't get any more luxurious, set on stilts over the Indian Ocean, giving you the chance to cast away every care you ever had.

Hit the Beach

Kuredu's main beach is certainly brimming with life no matter what the month. Spanning the circumference of the island, you will find talcum-powder white sands, swaying palms, and ocean so blue it seems literally blinding.

You will find parasols and sun-loungers for your day's relaxation, as well as a variety of watersports and activities on offer at the dedicated watersport centre. The great thing about watersports being dedicated to one area is that you can easily swim, snorkel in the shallows, and generally chill out, without being splashed by a jet-ski or something similar!

Restaurants and Nightlife

Mediterranean food is full of flavours and there is often something on this kind of menu to suit every palate. If this is what you're looking for then the resort restaurant of Franco's should be your destination. This is a small, laid-back restaurant, which offers dishes from Spain, Italy, and Greece, all with locally grown ingredients. You won't feel like you're in the Maldives when you're dining here, you'll feel like you've been transported to mainland Europe! The pizzas here are also very popular choices.

Of course, when you stay all inclusive you will have a range of buffet restaurants to choose from, and this resort is no different. Offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, there are four restaurants to choose from, some of which have live cooking stations to check out. This is a good drop in and out kind of dining experience.
