Weather Lowdown
Whilst April is thought of as a rainy month in some countries of the world, such as the United Kingdom for example, you can expect less in the way of rain at this time of year in Kuredu. Having said that however, when and how the rain comes in this part of the world is in the lap of the gods, and is famously unpredictable overall. This month generally averages around 10 days affected by rain to some degree, however that could be a tiny amount, or it could be a heavy shower there is no way of knowing beforehand.
We are still within the realms of the dry season during this time of year, however the following month will show changes as we move into the second season of the year, when conditions are wetter. The average temperature for this month is a wonderful 29°C, which can reach as high as 32°C during the peak sun times of the day, and during the hotter days that can occur with temperature spikes. Despite that, evenings are still warm too, with a low of only 26°C during darkness hours. Humidity remains at the high level during this month.
Of course, the silver lining of visiting at this time of year is that this is the month with the most in the way of sunshine hours, with an average of 9 hours of sun per day throughout the month perfect for beach time and exploring the island on foot, which is easily done despite the fact that this is one of the larger islands with the Maldives archipelago, you can still walk around the outside of the island via the beach, in around an hour. This is a very popular activity, and the weather conditions at this time makes exploration easy.
Where to Stay
April's wonderful weather means staying on the beach is the best way to truly appreciate the beauty of the area you're visiting. We know that Kuredu Island Resort & Spa Hotel is the on-trend destination to visit during your holiday on the island, and if you choose to stay in one of the Bonthi Beach Bungalows, you will certainly be waking up to a breath-taking view every morning.
These bungalows are affordable for a lower budget, and are located on the north side of the island. They are hidden away to a certain degree, so great for peace and quiet, however it's easy to get over to the entertainment facilities if you want a little more vibrancy in your evening. This particular part of the island is known for its quieter side of life, so if you do want to get away from it all, without breaking the bank, this is the ideal choice.
Of course, you might want to steer away from the main resort, and in that case you can easily visit Kuredu, but stay a little out of the way too. Located on Naifaru, around 24km from the resort, you will find Atmosphere Kanifushi Maldives. This is an all inclusive resort which is five star rated, and very popular to say the least.
Accommodation is made up of beach villas which are independent from each other, and you can choose from two dining packages all inclusive, or all inclusive gold. There is everything you will need here, in total luxury.
What to Do
Spending time cut off from the world is very easy to achieve when you visit the Maldives overall, but Kuredu gives you that perfect blend of busy and quiet, and if you are a couple wanting to get away from it all, then heading to the private sandbank is the way forward. The hotel calls this 'Dream Island', and you have to book well in advance, as obviously it is designed to be a secluded trip, without crowds or multiple people visiting at any one time.
You can choose between a full day or half day trip, where you are basically shrouded in luxury, cut off from the world, and you will feel like any cares you have are a very long way away indeed. It's advisable to book well ahead of time for this one.
A good way to see the island without walking is to hire a bicycle and head off around the island's circumference. You can easily see the entire island's outer portion in well under an hour, however do be aware that the roads are sand, so this is going to be good exercise indeed! Bike hire is affordable and a great way to enjoy the sun and grab some cardio exercise at the same time.
Alternatively, perhaps you're visiting this paradise island with the sole intention of tying the knot, and in that case you need to arrange this well in advance, but the island's main resort caters for those wishing to exchange those important vows. Book the Honeymoon Suite to truly up the ante for luxury, but getting married in these beautiful surroundings will certainly give you a wedding to remember for the rest of your life
Hit the Beach
You don't need to go out into deep water to enjoy snorkelling on Kuredu's beach, because you only have to paddle out to your knees to find colourful marine-life swimming around your ankles!
The beach itself is large, but narrow, basically running the circular circumference of the island, with white sand and clear water, perfect for swimming and enjoying a cool down in the hottest part of the day. Sun-loungers and parasols will mean you can easily kick back and relax with a drink in hand, topping up that tan to seriously enviable levels.
Restaurants and Nightlife
We all dream of staying in one of those iconic bungalows on stilts over the water, but here at the island's main resort you can dine on one of them too! O Restaurant is set on those wooden stilts, with the blue of the ocean below you, and has one of the best views you will ever see. Guests need to be over 12 years old, and you need to reserve a table unless you are staying in the Sulthan Pool Villas. The menu is fresh and delicious, including plentiful traditional Maldivian dishes, and seafood too, in a buffet theme.
Koamas Restaurant is another buffet restaurant which is set in the main centre of the resort, close to the entertainment options you can enjoy when the sun goes down. The cooking stations are great for watching your fresh meal cooked before your eyes, and you can enjoy local and international dishes, in a very plentiful manner.
