September marks the beginning of what we would call spring, in Kruger, South Africa. This can be noticed via the slightly warmer weather, with high temperatures of 29C and low temperatures of 13C. The chances of rain increase three fold during September as compared to August, so proper waterproof clothing is a must.
If you want to take advantage of Kruger National Park without much effort on your part, check in at Mopani Rest Camp. You can sleep here as well as observe big game - without even having to leaving the camp. This resting camp is also the newest addition to the park, and as well as being in an ideal location for spotting hippos, impala, lions, elephants, buffalos, plus many species birds including the African fish eagle - the untouched indigenous vegetation is a highlight. The middle of the camp features a really old baobab tree - photo op!
There's also a coffee shop and general store, not to mention great views of the Pioneer Dam, thanks to the camp being situated on a rocky rise.
Check out the Shilowa heritage sites that present signs of human occupation dating back to 1200 AD. Steeped in history and unique to this area, well trained guides are on hand to impart their knowledge, making this excursion far from boring.
