October marks the beginning of the wet summer season for Kruger, and the temperatures can be as high as 30C or as low as 16C. 43mm of rain can be expected on average.
Wherever you base yourself in the park, you will see some fascinating wildlife and soak up the magic of the awe-inspiring natural beauty that surrounds you. Crocodile Bridge Rest Camp offers many chances of seeing the Big Five, however, the animals more commonly seen in the game drives from this particular camp are: the giraffe, the white rhino, the spotted hyena, the cheetah and the kudu. Located in the southern area of the park, this camp attracts a lot of visitors, so you might want to book well in advance. If you fancy going back to your roots and sleeping under canvas, safari tents and a camping area are provided by the camp.
Regardless of which camp you decided to stay at, most of the park's visitors will experience similarily fulfilling days consisting of game drives in the morning, afternoon - and some - at night, as well as daytime guided bush walks and visits to interesting heritage sites. Most of the trips into the wild will require you to go with a guide. If you want to, and are permitted, to venture out alone make sure to follow the rules and the regulations of the park.
