What's the weather like in Kotor in April
The second month of spring brings a little bit more sunshine into the mix, but overall remains as capricious and surprising as its predecessor, March.
Temperature
The average temperature is higher at 14°C (57°F), and the nights gain another couple of degrees, reaching 7°C towards the third week of the month. The warmer days reach an encouraging high average of 19°C, making it a good time to go out and explore the natural beauties unravelling around Kotor and the bay. Humidity is low, at 62% on average, making it comfortable and pleasant despite the consistent showers expected to reign over the first couple of weeks of April.

The days get longer, reaching up to 6 hours of sunshine, and chances of uninterrupted bright skies increase to 40% on average.
Rainfall
Chances of rain are still predominant at 60%, with rainfall volume expected to reach an average of 116mm spread over a total of 12 days. This easily translates into lighter rains occupying half of the month, while the rest belongs to the sunny and warmer days that are typical to coastal springs on this side of the Adriatic Sea.

Wind speeds increase to 76kmh on average, most of them north-western with occasional western breezes from across the sea. As the spring season sets over Kotor, the barometric pressure and dew points drop to very comfortable margins, allowing the Old Town to flourish once more. The bay water's temperature rises to 16°C (61°F) on average, still choppy and subject to the whims of western currents sneaking along the Riviera. All in all, weather seems to improve as spring progresses, preparing for what is most likely to be a clear and beautiful summer. However, we still recommend a windbreaker and an umbrella packed, so as not to be taken by surprise when out and about around the Bay of Kotor.

Kotor Beaches for April
Kotor doesn't have many beaches, and most of them are pebbled and rocky, lining the deep and crystalline waters of the bay. But when the weather is good and skies are clear, you can easily make your way down to the marina or some of the pontoons stretching out towards the little islets sprinkled in the middle of the Riviera. If you don't mind going the distance, you can also make your way down to Risan Beach, a beautiful stretch of pebbles measuring about a kilometre in length and as narrow as 10m, situated between Risan and Strp along the coastline. It's a splendid location, perfect for medicinal tourism and genuine relaxation, and the views make you feel like you've stepped into a high resolution fantasy movie.
Bars and Restaurants
Not far from Kotor, in a quaint little town known as Herceg Novi in Boka Bay, you'll find the charming Konoba Feral, a family-run restaurant nestled between ancient cobblestone alleyways in the historical centre. It's extremely popular for its traditional cuisine revolving mostly around meat and fish dishes, but it also surprises its guests with enchanting international specialities borrowed from across the sea, such as pasta and risotto dishes, soups and fresh salads. The prices are overall reasonable and the staff are extremely professional and polite, and you simply cannot walk away from this place without trying the fish.
Back in the Old Town of Kotor now, you'll find the exceptional Konoba Scala Santa charming both locals and tourists with its delicious selection of fish and seafood in a rustic eatery setting. It's known across town for its excellent lobster and mussel dishes, and one of the fish speciality highlights is the barbecued zubatak, with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a slice of lemon simple yet beyond exquisite in terms of preparation methods and taste. The dining room is simply stunning as well, with exposed stone walls and candle-light accents, high ceiling with wood beams decorated with fishing tools, as well as a large fireplace. When the weather is warm and the sun is out, tables spill out onto the piazza as well.
For drinking and dancing you can head down to Maximus, Montenegro's most popular nightclub. It's often packed, even outside the summer season, and the music played ranges from commercial pop to dance and electronic beats. They often host international guest DJs and funky theme nights, so chances are you'll definitely get your groove on in there. Be prepared for an excellent atmosphere and a lot of fun, as the Montenegrin do like to party all the way into the morning!
Things to do in Kotor in April
One of the unmissable sights of Kotor is Our Lady of the Rocks and Sveti Dorde two little islands resting in the middle of Kotor's Bay, with a church peeking out of one and a monastery nestled between trees on the other. Attending a church service here is no regular business, and we wholeheartedly recommend making the voyage! Our Lady of the Rocks is man-made, the result of ships sunk with rocks, and covered with rough soil and stone to hold the church itself, the museum and the quaint little gift shop. Sveti Dorde on the other hand is a natural islet, home to Saint George's Benedictine Monastery and a quiet little cemetery, hidden beneath heavy and dark green tree crowns.
And since we're on the subject of historical churches decorating the beautiful Bay of Kotor and the Old Town, you should also visit St. Mary's Collegiate Church, a Catholic structure built in 1221 on the site of what was once a 6th century basilica. This particular church has received many impressive gifts throughout the centuries, including a majestic crucifix, 20th century bronze doors fitted with superb bass reliefs and the glass casket of the Blessed Osanna di Cattaro. Osanna was known as an anchoress who ultimately chose to be walled into a church's cell in order to devote her entire existence to prayer.
