What's the Weather like in Kos in April

Kos in April is a neutral month classifies as no particular season which sees the temperature rise steeply, the rainfall decline steeply, and the cloud coverage fall gradually. All of these weather conditions combine in the perfect way as they head for the highly coveted hot day with a cool breeze and clear skies. The average temperature during this month is 15 C (59 F) which is still pretty cold but a major boost from the end of the cold season in March.

April starts out with highs of 17.2 C (63 F) and lows of 11.6 C (53 F) as they continue the rise of temperature that starts at the end of March. Since the temperature rises all month this is considered the coolest part of the month as temperatures gradually become favorable. Rainfall during this time continues its fall and comes in at around 30% chances with cloud coverage beginning a steep decent at 57% (partly cloudy).

As the month continues the highs and lows stay on their upward trajectory rising to 18.3 C (65 F) and 12.7 C (55 F) respectively. The chances of rainfall come in at around 25 % or one fourth probability if you prefer fractions. During mid month around the end of the second and the beginning of the third week cloud coverage falls another 2% to 55% (partly cloudy) so expect the sun to continue to be more exposed as the month progresses.

Towards the end of April the highs complete their rise into warmer weather ending the month at around 19.4 C (67 F) to 21 C (70 F). The lows come up to 14.4 C (58 F) so this is the warmest part of the month making it a great time to visit as the average temperature surly goes up as May approaches. The probability of rainfall declines to nearly 23% by the end of the month completing a second consecutive month with a huge drop. Cloud coverage drops at the same rate to 52 % (partly cloudy) to end the month.

The average amount of rainfall in April is 35 mm divided into 5 days out of the month so there should be plenty of days to enjoy the island without any sign of rain all the while the weather stays cool. This makes April a great month to hit the beach especially towards the end of the month as the beginning is still pretty cold from the cold season.

The average sea temperature rises two degrees from the previous month to 17 C (63 F) which is still around the same temperature as the cold season, but from this point on the temperature only gets better. Finally since the cloud coverage starts to dissipate gradually this month the average daily hours of sunshine rise by an hour from March to 10 hours daily.

Kos Hotels in April

As April starts to show better weather more and more people will begin to arrive at the island for their holidays. Although this month is not typically part of the high season it sometimes gets crowds especially at the end of the month. You should always book in advance when planning to visit Kos since all of the main resorts are usually booked, but more so as the summer season approaches. That being said many places are still available and you should have no problem finding a place to stay.

A great family run hotel on the outskirts of the Kefalos village is Zeus Hotel. Handily, this hotel is near a couple of tavernas and a mini market. With a fab pool, pool bar and lounge with comfortable couches, this hotel will have you in holiday mode in no time.

Live the good life at Horizon Beach Resort located in the Mastichari village. This resort is king at providing entertainment for its vacationers with live music and dance shows at night and sports and water activities during the day. If that is not enough there is a sparkling pool with a pool bar where you can hang out and drink a cocktail and a restaurant and a tavern where you can enjoy a great view of the Aegean Sea.

A great place for families is the Kalimera Mare located in the village of Kardamena. This offers a deal where your first child can stay free from 1 6 years old. Their dining options include a great American buffet for breakfast and Mediterranean food for lunch and dinner. Parking is also free and they provide a car service to take you around the island.

Stay just two minutes from the beach at the Cleopatra Superior Hotel in the village of Kardamena. This hotel has spotless rooms since they are cleaned daily. There are also rooms with stunning sea views and an outdoor pool and bar which serve snacks all day. The continental breakfast in the morning is delicious and includes Greek yogurt, fruit, honey, ham, cheese, coffee, and tea.

Kos Beach for April

The great thing about April is that it is the first month of the year that hitting the beach doesn't feel like something to just get out of the way while you're there. You can actually enjoy it on some days when the sun is out and the breeze is at a calm point. There is more than 2 miles of coastline around Kos so finding a place to start can be a problem. The best spots have names, but if you are feeling adventurous try exploring to find a spot of your own.

Hit a beach that is away from the lively crowds of the town on the North Western coastline of Kos at Limnionas Beach. There aren't many facilities in this region of Kos since it is more secluded, but there is a tavern sitting up overlooking this beach for a nice drink or meal before you soak in the sun. You can also expect to find a couple of sun beds and umbrellas that you can help yourself to. This beach is beautiful in its simplicity and sparkling dark blue water.

Warm up at the hidden paradise of Therma Beach which has natural hot springs the Aegean Sea and a nice shack with accommodations. This beach is perfect on a cold day in April or when the sun comes out cool off in the ocean, this is part of what makes it one of the most unique beaches in the world. Also the fact that it is surrounded by mountains gives you the feeling of being lost in a world of paradise. You can access this beach by most public types of transportation or rent a mountain bike and ride your way there for an added outdoor experience.

 Bars and Restaurants

There is no shortage of places to dine out in Kos as its main revenue is from tourism. During April there will not be as many restaurants and bars open as in the summer season, but the good news is that some restaurants open early around this time to get a head start. The most well known and lively place to eat is Kos Town which is the main part of the island. The other villages will have a less commercial feel and may match your style more if you want to relax in cozy environments.

Wine and dine in fashion at the Flamingo Restaurant Bar located on the main Kos Town waterfront. From this viewpoint you can watch the day trippers come and go and will most likely meet other vacationers as this area is very popular. Food includes traditional Greek dishes and International dishes with drinks being anything from a cocktail to a soda. The ambiance is a blend between lively and relaxed depending on the time of day you visit.

For those who love great scenery and an outdoor dining experience near the beach visit the Stadium Bar Restaurant located just outside of Kos Town. This restaurant is perfect for all times of day with outstanding service that earned it awards in 2014. The cuisine is international as they serve pasta, seafood, and appetizers. The dessert is even better with location favorites such as the highly coveted elephant eye or a dirty chocolate soufflé. This place is reasonably priced and in a great location close to most of the hotels on the island.

Things to do in Kos in April

There are so many things to do in Kos and its surrounding islands that you most likely will not be able to view this whole island on one trip. From water sports to cultural sightseeing to natural forests and parks, Kos has something for everybody so no one gets left out of the loop. If you are not sure what to do, you can also hire a guide who will show you all of the popular spots until you feel comfortable enough exploring the island on your own.

For a more relaxing and less hectic experience head to the west side of Kos near Kefalos village to the fTherma Beach. This place cannot really be defined as one thing as it is a restaurant and a beach, so it is more like a mini resort, but without rooms that's run by a local family. The restaurant serves delicious Greek meals and can be enjoyed without breaking your budget. It has a beautiful view of the quiet beach which you can also walk down to and have a peaceful break from the liveliness of Kos Town.

For an amazing natural experience try going to the Plaka Forest located in a rural area of Kos which when found feels like a hidden gem. There is an abundance of wildlife including colourful peacocks, turtles, and cats which surprisingly all get along with each other as you will see them socialising as animals do. The towering pine trees give off their pleasant scent and leave you enough room to set up a tent and camp out or take pictures in open settings.
