A relatively dry tropical month, November in Ko Samet is still in high season. Average daily temperatures fluctuate around 29 degrees, with high peaks at 32 degrees Celsius. Temperatures can drop at 23 degrees on a cloudy day but November is rarely any colder than that. During November, seawater temperatures never drop below 29 degrees Celsius, an overall annual average that guarantees warm waters throughout the year, even during the winter months. On a daily basis, the island enjoys at least 9 sunshine hours on average while during November rains barely reach 84mm.
November is a month of religious celebrations in Thailand and as a result, Ko Samet sees some unique festivals and events hitting the island. "Changing the robe for Phra Chedi Klang Nam" is an annual traditional festival held during the night of the 12th lunar month (almost always at the end of November). During this unique event, the gigantic robe that covers the pagoda in the middle of the Rayong River, in Mueang district, is ceremonially changed. Apart from the religious aspect of the ceremony, locals celebrate the event along with the much more festive Loi Krathong festival. In Loi Krathong, boat racing and food celebrations are held amidst dancing and tropical feasting.
If you're looking for something different, away from the well-beaten tourist track while visiting Ko same then there's nothing better than to try your hands on some local paintball matches. Action and thrill seekers flock at Guerrilla Paintball at Hat Sai Kaew. Located just behind the main Samet village road in a thick forest, you will find the paintball playground. There you can hire affordable equipment that meets all the safety requirements for some quality paintball mayhem. Safety equipment is available in all sizes, to ensure that even kids can play without any worries.
For some local, down-to-earth honest food during November's festivities, locals and tourists alike opt to eat at Banana restaurant. Banana features a strong menu of delectable local fare at equally delectable prices.
The Saikaew Villa is conveniently located close to all the festivities and also boasts a beautiful, tranquil garden for those who wish to escape the celebrations for some peace and quiet. It has great facilities and service, too.
