What's the Weather Like in Ko Lanta in October
Rainfall
Though the climate in Ko Lanta is still very wet in October, there are considerable signs that better weather is on its way. The island warms up slightly during the month, and it marks the last days of the monsoon period in this part of the Krabi province.
In Ko Lanta specifically, rain is still expected to fall on around 16 days of the month, which is actually the highest proportion in the entire year. However, with only 310mm expected to fall in total, the rain is usually far lighter than that experienced in the previous month of September.
There are still likely to be some days when the downpour never stops. But as October progresses, the likelihood of this happening gets lower and lower, which means a waterproof layer is all that is needed to keep the worst of the weather away.
Temperature
Meanwhile, average temperatures remain at a very appealing 28°C, ensuring that the island does start to get much busier, especially by the end of the month.
Average highs reach as high as 31°C in October, which is not far off the warmest temperatures of the year in March and April. However, the weather in October can get considerably higher, with record temperatures of 38°C experienced back in 2000.
Even when the rain is pouring, or at night, the temperature does not fall too much. Average lows of 25°C ensure there is plenty of opportunity for a late night walk. And as we move away from the highest humidity levels in September, the air can feel a little fresher too.
In recorded history, the temperature in Ko Lanta in October has never fallen below 21°C. And when compared with the weather forecast back in the UK, even the rain shouldn't stop you from visiting at this time of the year.
