What's the Weather Like in Ko Lanta in May
May is usually the start of the low season in Ko Lanta and a time when the weather can become much wetter. But though May does hark the start of the monsoon season in the Krabi province, there are still plenty of hot days too.
Temperature
Average temperatures of 29°C are very warm for this time of the year. However the climate is still a degree lower than the hottest time of the year during March and April. Average highs can still reach up to 32°C, offering plenty of warmth. And record temperatures have climbed as high as 39°C, ensuring there is always the potential for some significant heat.
Rainfall

Though the Yang Garden Restaurant doesn't seem all that impressive on first appearances, once you taste the food you will understand what all the fuss is about. Coronation Day
Coronation Day is one of the biggest events held during May in Ko Lanta and commemorates the day that the King of Thailand took to the throne. Held on May 5th, the festival is typified by the many street parties that are held across the island as well as tributes and parades. Though this is typically a local custom, residents are more than happy for visitors to the island to join in the fun. And, as this marks a public holiday on Ko Lanta, everyone will want to participate.
Lanta Paintball
Since the Lanta Paintball centre first opened its doors, paintballing has become a very popular activity with residents and visitors alike. But if you don't fancy getting up close and personal with a weapon of fun destruction, there's a climbing wall, slack line and many other events to take your fancy. The centre is a mixture of outdoor and indoor activities, so it is perfect for any type of weather. But just make sure you book beforehand, the entire centre can get very busy. And as there are activities for adults and children alike, everyone wants to take their turn.
