What's the Weather Like in Ko Lanta in March
March is the start of what is usually considered the heat wave season in Ko Lanta, which means warm, dry weather and plenty of it.
For those that like their days hot and their nights just as warm, March and April are the best times to come to the region. And though there is slightly more chance of rain in these months than in January or February, the heat is considered more consistent and the sun stronger than at any other time of the year.
Rainfall
While there is a greater chance of rain in March than there is in the two months it followed, it is uncommon to actually see any major precipitation in Ko Lanta at this time of the year. Forecasted rainfall is just 30mm spread over 3 days, and most of that will occur at night. This means the days are long and warm, just perfect to enjoy this part of Thailand.
Temperature
Average temperatures for Ko Lanta in March are at their highest of the year, with the thermometer averaging 30°C on a daily basis. However average highs are usually more in the region of 34°C, making it far warmer than other parts of the world, even in the middle of summer.
Historically, temperatures have reached up to 38°C, in March 1996. And with only a 15% chance of cloud, there is not much in the way of shade.
At night, the temperature falls very little. Average lows for March are estimated at 25°C. This means air conditioning or a good breeze is essential for anyone that wants a good night's sleep in Ko Lanta. However, many visitors will use the good weather to enjoy a night sleeping in the open air. Or at least a late night walk down to the beach.
Considered to be the last full month of the high season, a trip in March should bring plenty of good weather and lots of fun too.
