What's the Weather like in Ko Lanta in February
February in Ko Lanta not only offers some of the driest weather of the entire year, it is also the least humid month in this part of Thailand. This means that many people will come to the island to enjoy the warm sunshine of the season, without the claustrophobic humidity that can occur at other times of the year.
February is also the last month of the year before the annual heat wave in Thailand begins. And for those that want to enjoy as much warmth as possible, without the overpowering heat of the highest temperatures of the year, this is the month to come.
Temperature
Average high temperatures reach up to an incredible 34°C. However with a 10% chance of a cloudy day, there is some respite from the sun at this time of the year. Though historically, it did reach an incredible 38°C in February 1989.
Sea Temperature
For those that want to enjoy the warm sea temperatures, it is wise to ensure lots of sun protection. Though there usually isn't much wind at this time of the year to hide the intensity of heat, the power of the sun can still be very deceptive.
Even at night, the temperatures remain warm. Usually average low temperatures will not fall below 24°C, offering the same conditions as previous months. Yet as the month gets closer to the peak temperatures in March and April, there is a greater chance of the nights becoming uncomfortable for those without air conditioning.
Rainfall
However, rain is never an issue in February. Even if there is some rain in January, it is unlikely that February will follow suit. With only 10mm of precipitation forecast for the entire month, even if there is a shower, it is likely to be at night. This leaves the days warm, clear and very bright.
