What's the Weather Like in Ko Lanta in April
April is one of the hottest months of the year in Ko Lanta, Thailand, when the resort experiences similar weather to that of Khao Lak.
Temperature
During this time of year, average high temperatures can reach a staggering 34°C during the hottest part of the day. But in peak years, temperatures of up to 38°C have been recorded, so care must be taken.
Conditions this warm can be dangerous for some, so try and stay out of the direct sunshine during the hottest period of the day. This is the only way to avoid the heatstroke and sunburn which can plague the more vulnerable visitor.
However after the sun has set, temperatures drop to an average low of around 25°C, perfect for enjoying a pre-dinner stroll. Even during the dead of night conditions will not get much cooler. But even so, after very hot days, you may still need an extra layer in the early hours. Especially as you get used to the very hot days that this part of Thailand has to offer.
By the end of April, the number of visitors in Ko Lanta will start to decline and this will trigger the end of the peak season in the region. Some of the most popular tourist sites will start to wind down. However this provides an opportunity to enjoy a much less busy time in Ko Lanta, should you choose to visit.
Rainfall
As the month progresses, the weather is likely to become wetter. And by the end of the month it is expected that the region will have experienced an average of 110mm of rain over approximately 6 days. Much of this will fall at night, and therefore won't spoil the long, hot warm days. However, if the weather does turn a little earlier than usual, there is a chance of the odd heavy downpour. It is therefore advisable to check the forecast before planning any days out.
