Much like in June, heavy rainfall is experienced during the month of July in Ko Chang. However, it is also a wonderful time to see the majestic waterfalls and do some jungle trekking.

Generally, the weather is humid and temperatures average 27°C. In the afternoon, the mercury climbs to an average high of 30°C, while at night, it drops to an average low of 23°C. Both those temperatures are incredibly high, which, combined with the high humidity, may result in rather unpleasant weather conditions. Visitors to Ko Chang in the rainy seasonr all-year round, reallyre advised to get air-conditioning in their hotel room. The sea temperature is high throughout the whole year and in July it averages 29°C, which can be considered the annual average.

As it is the rainy season, heavy rainfall is expected, although the sun does come out each day for about 7 hours. The total amount of rainfall in July is about 558mm. This makes it the wettest month of the entire year in the resort, although June, August and September are only slightly drier. Because of the heavy rains, it can get tricky gaining access into or out of Ko Chang, as there are times when the weather disrupts the mainland ferry. However, it is not as bad as trying to get to or from the islands bordering Ko Chang, such as Ko Wai, Ko Mak and Ko Kood. Just be aware of potentially heavy downpours and lightning storms. Moderate rain is the most common type of rainfall in the resort, happening on 48% of all days with precipitation. Thunderstorms occur on 28% of those days, while light rain is recorded on 21%. The chance of experiencing rainfall on any given day ranges between 62% in the beginning of the month and 56% at the end.

Cloud cover is at its annual peak this time of year. It varies between 75% and 79%, which means that visitors should expect cloudy, overcast skies 31% of the time. However, as mentioned above, there still are 7 hours of sunshine to be enjoyed each day on average.

It is the low season in July, so accommodation is more affordable than throughout the high season. There are a number of resorts you can stay at, but a particularly wonderful one is the Little Eden Bungalow & Restaurant. Situated a few minutes away from Lonely Beach, the resort offers affordable bungalow-style accommodation with spectacular sea views. There is also a village area not too far from the resort, home to live-music venues, mini-markets, shops, restaurants, bars, and much more.

The Bhumiyama Beach Resort is also a great place to stay. It has air-conditioned rooms with hot showers, separate bath tubs and is inclusive of all amenities. The hotel features a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and an excellent restaurant that offers the freshest seafood possible.

Situated in the premier tourist area on the island, White Sand Beach, Cookies Hotel not only boasts a remarkable name, but also various great facilities and a superb location. Breakfast is included in the room rate. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, a children's pool and a nice restaurant.

It might rain quite a lot this month, but, generally speaking, the mornings remain dry. If you want to hit the beach and maybe even go for a swimhe water is 29°C warmt is advised that you do that before noon, as the rains tend to arrive in the afternoon. Pearl Beach is a suggested place to go, a popular beach among families and couples. There are mostly small resort and bungalow complexes in this area, as well as dive shops and even a book store. It's a laidback resort, a peaceful corner on the island's bustling west coast.

If you're in the mood for a drink or a casual dinner, consider visiting O2, an established and popular restaurant and bar on Kai Bae Beach. A favourite hangout among tourists and locals alike, this welcoming venue serves a delightful mix of Thai cuisine and Western food. Particularly the vegetarian dishes and curries on its menu are recommended.

For Italian fare, Ziva Restaurant is the place to be. Run by an Italian owner, Fernanda, this charming eatery specialises in home-cooked dishes, such as pastas, pizzas, delicious desserts, various meats and tasty cheeses. There are indoor and outdoor seating areas; its menu also includes coffee, wine, beer and cocktails.

With its total amount of rainfall of 558mm, July is the wettest month of the entire year. While snorkelling and scuba diving aren't recommended this time of year, there are a number of other fun things to do. Thailand's cuisine is one of the best in the world, so what better way to spend a rainy day than learning how to cook Thai food? The Happy Turtle cooking school offer classes where you can learn about ingredients used in Thai food, preparation techniques, recipes and presentation. These fun classes are a great addition to any itinerary, especially in the rainy season.

Shopping is another popular activity on rainy daysot that it rains every single day in July, but you should except plenty of wetness. Shopping is fairly limited in Ko Chang compared to other tourist destinations in Thailand, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. Many shops line the main road along every beach, most of them selling souvenirs and beachwear. While the majority of the goods sold in stores in Ko Chang include things such as sunglasses, CDs, souvenirs and the like, you can also find some more authentic items. These include traditional Thai art, leatherworks such as bags and belts, jewellery and wine.
