Introduction

Kavos is a popular beach resort on the island of Corfu in the Mediterranean. The resort is known for its nightlife and is a popular holiday destination for the 18-30 crowd.

Types of Holiday-goers/Holidays

Most of the accommodations offered at Kavos are provided in the form of apartments and studios and are designed to appeal to people 18 to 30 year olds. While some accommodation is family-friendly, the water sports and active nightlife make Kavos more of a draw for younger singles or couples.

The Best Time to Visit Kavos

The best time to visit the resort is from the mid part of June to August, when the temperatures average around 20 degrees Celsius, or 72 degrees Fahrenheit. For people who enjoy slightly cooler temperatures, May and October are both good times to take a journey to the resort. At those times, the temperatures are generally 10 degrees cooler than in the peak months of June, July, and August.

Outside of the main summer season, the resort tends to close down as the tourists empty out, so you may have trouble finding accommodation and amenities visiting outside of the May-October period.

Activities

Water sports are a big draw for visiting tourists, especially the younger crowd. Parasailing, banana boating, surfing, water skiing and jet skiing are all on offer.

Glass bottom boat trips are also popular here, offering tourists a glimpse of the sea life.

As the resort mainly draws the interest of the younger crowd, the beach may be a bit too busy for families. Families often choose to visit Aqualand, which features waterslides, playgrounds, and an arcade.  The go-cart track in nearby St. Peterâs is also family-friendly.

If you want to explore the surrounding islands around the resort, then you can hire a boat and take a sailing trip around the islands. Alternatively, you can take advantage of one of the cruises on offer and relax and enjoy the sights.

Sights to See

While Kavos does not provide a lot in the way of cultural attractions, the surrounding area does. History buffs will enjoy a trip to Corfu Town, which has a number of museums and historic buildings. Sightseers can enjoy the exhibits at the Byzantine Museum and Archaeological Museum in addition to visiting a number of the archaeological sites on the island too, such as the Ancient Site of Palaiopolis, the agora (ancient market), the Temple of Kardkios, and Roman baths.

Another site worth noting is the Monument of Menekratis, located in Garitsa on Corfu. Built in the sixth century BC, the âGraveâ Monument was discovered in the middle part of the 19th century and includes an ancient Greek inscription â" considered one of the oldest in Greece.

Beaches

The Kavos Beach, which is the primary beach on Corfu, is approximately a mile in length. Tourists can hire umbrellas and sunbeds in the day and, when the sun sets, partiers can often head there to end the night.

The island of Corfu is hotter than other Greek islands with beaches such as Ayia Napa and Sidari becoming major hubs of action in the summer months.

The Kanoni Peninsula, 3 miles south of Corfu Town, features ancient ruins while Issos Beach on Corfu is home to the loggerhead turtle. Or you can head over to Cape Aspro Kavos, which is located close by.

Nightlife â" Major Clubs

The nightlife is Kavosâ main selling point and the resort is known for the party scene, attracting tourists year after year.

JCâs Cocktail Bar is a popular bar known for providing lethally strong drinks that keep bringing party goers back. Itâs a must for any night out.

The Barn is one of the trendier bars in Kavos, providing cocktails, spirits and food.

Base Barâs one for music lovers, as it plays the best indie, RnB, funky house and old school music.

42nd Street, located right in the centre of the Strip, is one of the busiest bars in Kavos, offering cheap drinks offers and playing music until the early hours.

Restaurants

Whatever type of cuisine youâre after in Kavos, there are plenty of different restaurants to try out that will accommodate all tastes.

Eveâs Garden is a popular restaurant that serves Greek food. As well as a wide range of dishes on offer, the food is affordable and good value.

The Rose Tree also offers traditional Greek food and is run by a local family. As well as a large menu, the portions served here are also big, so youâll get the most for your money.

Roussos Restaurant also serves Greek food as well as a full English breakfast- just what you need after a night exploring Kavosâ nightlife! Past travellers recommend it as the best place to eat in Kavos.

There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes that serve burgers, chips and kebabs.

Accommodations

When it comes to places to stay, tourists have a number of options available.

The Konstantina Apartments, located only a short distance from Kavos Beach, is reasonably priced accommodation that consists of 30 apartments. These are best-suited to families who visit the resort as the apartments are located next to a family-themed restaurant.

The Miami Sea View Apartments are also closely located to Kavos Beach. The self catering apartments have the option for bed and breakfast as well as a range of facilities, including water sports on the nearby beaches.
