Kalkan public beach is pebbly, with clear waters sloping down steeply, meaning you don't have to walk on the pebbles for too long. You can rent a sunbed and umbrella for the day, with cafes nearby. If you don't want to walk there, the good news is the dolmus bus will drop you there quite easily.

Summer has arrived in Kalkan and that means infinite choice of places to eat and drink. Oasis hotel has amazing views over the harbour and sea, which makes your evening meal much more sophisticated. This is a quiet restaurant which is a little under the radar, and serves a large menu of Mediterranean and Turkish food.
Rosemary Restaurant
Alternatively, Rosemary Restaurant is a modern establishment, situated right on the harbour, with bright décor and great service. This is a very popular choice and does get quite busy during the main summer months.
Vanilya Bistro
If authentic is what you're looking for then check out Vanilya Bistro. This is a family run restaurant which offers traditional Turkish dishes, although if you are travelling with someone who is a little fussy, the menu stretches to the more mainstream too, with fantastic burgers and chips on offer, all freshly made.
Things to Do in Kalkan in May
Boat trip
A huge 13 hours of sunshine and increasing temperatures means May is the ideal time to head out on a boat trip, before the heat becomes too much, and the boats are too packed with visitors. You only need to head down to the harbour before 10am to take your pick of boats at this time of year, however to be certain, booking through an excursion agency is the best way to go. If you want a more private experience then arranging a gulet trip is for you. This is a wooden yacht, very Mediterranean and Turkish in origin, and quite a luxurious day out.
Kekova
Most boat trips will circle the bays around Kalkan, however some do go further afield and it is worth heading to Kekova if your particular boat allows. This is a very beautiful part of the region, and one which requires a bus to a nearby village, before you board a glass-bottomed boat for your cruise around the magical coastline. Trips stop for regular swim breaks, as well as diving opportunities, and lunch is generally included, with drinks extra.
Meis
