Kalamaki features a typical Mediterranean climate with prolonged summers and short, mild winters. Located on the Greek isle of Zante, otherwise known as Zakynthos, Kalamaki attributes one of the islands finest climates. Because of the immense difference of geography throughout Zante, the island experiences a vast regional disparity in its typical climate. Kalamaki however, is located on a low elevation on the southern coastline and benefits from characteristic weather conditions expected throughout the Mediterranean region.
Spring
Many could say that spring is an ideal time to visit the resort as temperatures are mild and pleasing and rainfall is easing off from the winter. Temperatures through March can still be quite chilly as the town sees lows of 9°C, yet April and May can promise a distinct rise as average climates sore up to 24°C by the conclusion of spring. Spring is also a great time for a vacation to Kalamaki to beat the peak season and summer crowds.
Summer
Unlike summers typical to northern Europe, Kalamaki enjoys long summers extending until September and sometimes even early October. Kalamaki boats average temperatures of 23°C to 28°C during June and July, while August features sweltering climate of up to 32°C or higher. Precipitation levels throughout the summer months are very low as June and July receive a very low rainfall amount of 6mm. This therefore guarantees long hours of daily sunshine and warm airless nights. Many regard summer a little too hot and rather escape to the northern areas of Greece where climates are more tolerable and crowds are lower.
Autumn
Similar to spring, October and November are still an admirable period to visit, however rainfall is much more common. Both air and sea temperatures are enjoyable and when the clouds bypass the sunshine is never far off. Although the average temperatures of September are hot and dry, September could still be regarded as summer as nights are mild and days are still sizzling.
Winter
Though average climates are many degrees lower than autumn and spring, the winter months in Kalamaki are still mild and pleasant. Unlike the regions located on a higher elevation further inland that tend to drop below freezing and feature a fair amount of snow, Kalamaki is constructively sheltered from these chilly temps, featuring bare minimums of 7°C in January and February. Winter however, is the townâs wettest season as rainfall levels rise to 66mm, a great difference to what is experienced in the summertime.
