Things to Do in Jersey in May

Tour the Historic Le Hocq Tower

Le Hocq Tower is a major historical site that shouldn't miss on your Jersey itinerary. This is one of the many round towers that were built to safeguard Jersey Island from French invasion. The towers were constructed on the orders of General Henry Seymour Conway who was the governor at the time. It is believed Le Hocq Tower was completed in 1781 and its weaponry included an 18-pounder naval cannon mounted on the roof. The outside has two 18-pounders to serve as reinforcement for the tower gun. Despite numerous modern developments, the tower still remains an ancient landmark that tells Jersey's history. This is definitely a great site to visit if you're curious about Jersey's history.

Take a Ferry Ride to Elizabeth Castle 

Elizabeth Castle located on a St Aubin's bay rocky islet best explains Jersey's history. The Castle was built to defend Jersey from external French invasion offering the island protection for more than 300 years. A visit to the Castle will take you on a historical tour of the entire building to climb the battlements, see the bunkers and discover the Hermitage where St Helier is believed to have resided around 550AD. There are also numerous historical exhibitions on the site. If you want a ferry ride experience, you can access Elizabeth Castle from St Helier via a Castle Ferry that transports passengers to and from the Castle across the bay.

However, if you wish to have a different experience, hop onto Le Petit Train, a famous little landtrain that offers you fun rides to various parts of the island.
