What's the Weather like in Icmeler in March

Temperature

Located on the shore of the Mediterranean and Aegean Sea, Icmeler has relatively mild winters, especially when compared to other destinations in Europe. After chilly January and February, the average daily temperatures are finally starting to rise again in March. Now, the average daily temperature is 8°C, two degrees warmer than the two previous months and one degree warmer than December. The average daily high temperature has reached two digits, at 11°C. The average daily low remains cold, at 4°C. March is characterised by rising temperatures though. March 1 is the coldest day of the month; March 31 is already a few degrees warmer, as spring kicks in.

Sea Temperature

The sea temperature is still 16°C in March, the same as February and as cold as the water of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas ever gets.

Rainfall

In March the amount of rainfall decreases further. February already saw a large decrease in total rainfall and March continues that trend. Now, the total amount of precipitation is 48mm and there are eight days of rainfall. This makes March the fifth-wettest month of the year. The fact that there are eight days with rainfall the fourth-highest number in the year also means that there are 23 dry days in March. Precipitation is most likely to occur on March 1 and March 2, with a 39% chance. March 31 is historically the driest day of the month, with a 34% chance of precipitation. Thunderstorms are the most common type of rainfall in March. They generally happen on 49% of those eight rainy days. Other types of precipitation that are observed are light rain and moderate rain, respectively occurring on 32% and 18% of all days with rainfall.

Cloud

As the chance of precipitation decreases, so does the amount of cloud cover. The beginning of the month is significantly cloudier than the end of the month. March 3 is historically the cloudiest day in March with 70% of cloud cover. March 31 has 62% of cloud cover left. March is the fourth-cloudiest month of the year in Icmeler.

Sunshine

A decrease in cloud cover, of course, means that the amount of sunshine increases. The average amount of sunshine hours in March is four, which is the same as it was in February. There is an increase in the course of the month though; the average amount of daily sunshine hours in April is six hours.

The length of the days in March is gradually increasing as well. March 1, the shortest day of the month, has a total of 11.24 hours of daylight, while March 31, the longest day of the month, has 12.34 daylight hours. This is an increase of 1.10 hours throughout the month, meaning that every day in March is 2.3 minutes longer than the day before.

Bars and Restaurants

Taj Mahal Restaurant

The Taj Mahal Restaurant is the only authentic Indian restaurant in the area. It is located on the main road between Icmeler and Marmaris. This restaurant, run by a chef from Bradford, is particularly well-known for its curry dishes, made from spices that are all imported from Asia. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, chicken tandoori dishes, vegetable dishes and all kinds of Indian foods. European cuisine, such as fish and chips, pizzas, Mr. Bean's Creamy Chicken, steaks and hamburgers, can be ordered as well. There is also a fairly large choice of wines, beers and soft drinks.

Wembley Bar

The Wembley Bar is a fun place for casual drinks and great food, located in the Old Village of the resort. It lies in a quieter area, a short distance from the busier city centre. This restaurant and bar offers great pub food and the opportunity to cheer on your favourite sports team; there are large TV screens all around the bar. The restaurant serves full Scottish and English breakfasts, lunch and dinner. The food is the typical pub food, ranging from steaks and burgers to fish and chips and spaghetti. The Wembley Bar has a free pool table and free Wi-Fi and sometimes treats children to free ice cream.

Things to do in Icmeler in March

Grand Bazaar

A necessary part of any holiday is shopping, whether it is for souvenirs, clothes or something else. The best and most lively place to do that is at a local market. Icmeler's bustling market takes place everything Wednesday. Another nearby weekly market can be found in Armutalan, but the largest market of them all is found in Marmaris, the resort's big brother. The so-called Grand Bazaar is huge indeed. There you will be able to find almost anything, from Oriental carpets and clothing to gold, leather and spices. This market is open every day. Don't forget to bargain!

Horse Safari

A wonderful, alternative way to see more of the resort's surrounding countryside is by going on a horse safari. You can go on these safaris in the towns of Hisaronu, Cetibeli and Koycegiz. If you don't want to use animals to get around, you can also get to know the region better by cycling and hiking. The coast between Icmeler and Turunc is just stunning and makes for fun cycling trips.
