Temperature
Summer is arriving in Icmeler, Turkey, in June. Icmeler Beach is often considered as the best beach in the region. It consists of golden sand, azure-blue waters and has a stunning mountain background. The beach is six kilometres long and a centre for all kinds of water sports, from jet skiing and parasailing to swimming and banana boating.
Make sure to slop on sunscreen when you hit the beach though. The sun really burns this time of year. Drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcohol during the day also helps to stay clear of sunstroke.
Bars and Restaurants
Deniz Kapisi
Deniz Kapisi is a wonderful restaurant located right at the beach in the south of the resort. It has an open-air rooftop terrace restaurant, ground floor bar and a wooden jetty off the beach. On the extensive menu are soups, cold and hot starters, more than a dozen salads, steaks, chicken dishes, kebabs, seafood, casseroles and fajitas, as well as vegetarian dishes. The restaurant also serves various pastas and pizzas and has a great selection of desserts and beverages.
Datca
Datca is another popular resort in the region, home to many excellent restaurants. Two suggested ones are Fevzinin Yeri Restaurant and Ogun's Place. The first one is a traditional Turkish tavern and an ideal place to sample authentic Turkish seafood and soak up the culture. The latter is famed for its oven-baked bread and other homemade food.
Things to do in Icmeler in June
Atlantis Waterpark
Atlantis Waterpark is one of two great waterparks in Marmaris, the neighbouring town. This big waterpark is a great place to cool off from the intense heat. Atlantis Waterpark is located at the seafront on Marmaris Long Beach and can be reached by public transport from Icmeler. If you're staying in one of the nearby hotels, the park provides a free shuttle service.
Atlantis Waterpark even has its own private beach, with sun beds and umbrellas that can be used free of charge, and a total of nine waterslides. Smaller kids will have a great time in Kids Land, while the Wave Pool is a popular hang-out place for adults. You can grab a bite to eat at one of the three restaurants and enjoy a drink at the Wavepool bar.
Whitewater Rafting
A fun-packed way to experience the beautiful nature, spectacular mountains, canyons and fast-flowing rivers that surround Icmeler is by whitewater rafting. The action takes place on the Dalaman River and your activity-packed day also includes swimming, lunch and spectacular views.
