Things to do
For a change of scenery to the beach, go to the Lychnostatis Open-air Museum on the seafront. There are several collections on display, and guided tours available, this is an interesting activity to walk around on the warm June days. On display are Cretan folk tradition and ethnology artefacts, Cretan nature and environment and Cretan folk culture. There are several buildings and gardens on display as exhibits, and workshops to get involved in.
A fun day out in the summer months is a boat trip around the beautiful waters surrounding Crete. Visit natural and historical sites, including the former leper colony, Spinalonga, or the beautiful beaches of Gramvousa Island at the west end of Crete.
