July is one of the hottest and most popular months of the year in Hersonissos, Crete. During the day, temperatures can reach a sizzling 28°C, so make sure you bring plenty of suntan lotion with you. The evenings are slightly cooler, with temperatures dropping to around 22°C, making for some pleasant evening strolls along the harbour.

Cool off from the heat with a visit to the Acqua Plus Water Park. Boasting a range of attractions and features, the park has a crazy river, space bowl, hydromassage pool, lazy river, black holes and a kamikaze hydrotube. You'll also find several shops, a play area and a bar-restaurant where you can enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

Golfers won't want to miss the chance to play a few rounds on Crete Golf Club. The only 18-hole golf course in the whole of Crete, this championship course has been built to international PGA standards and will provide a challenge for even the most experienced of golfers.

Hersonissos boasts many fantastic beaches, one of which is Limanakia Beach. Because there are so few facilities, this beach is usually quiet, making it a great place to relax and soak up the sun in peace.

If the heat gets too much for you, seek shade in the many shops throughout the resort. With leather goods, clothes, souvenirs, jewellery and handicrafts on offer, you're bound to find just what you're looking for.

Families and couples looking for affordable accommodation in Hersonissos should consider staying at the Papadakis Villas. Situated a short walk away from the nearby harbour, this holiday complex is also near Koutouloufari and Piskopiano where you'll find various shops, restaurants and cafes.
