Located on the northern coast of Crete, Hersonissos is a small tourist resort with many sandy beaches and hidden coves. The resort enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with long hot summers and mild wet winters. Most people travel to Hersonissos to enjoy a relaxing holiday, spending most of their time sunbathing and shopping.

January is one of the coldest months to visit the resort. At this time of year, temperatures rarely rise above 14°C, even at the warmest parts of the day. On an evening, the temperature drops to around 8°C, so be prepared and pack a jacket. With an average of 11 rainy days throughout the month, it's almost guaranteed that you'll experience a shower or two if you visit in January.

The Aquaworld Aquarium and Rescue Centre is a fantastic place for the whole family to spend the day. Not only can you marvel at the creatures inside the tanks, but you will also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the centre's residents, such as a huge white python.

Ano Hersonissos is a small village just a short walk away from Hersonissos. This traditional village features beautiful scenery and many small beaches, making it a fantastic place to enjoy a leisurely stroll.
