February is one of the coldest and dampest times of the year to visit Hersonissos, Crete. During this month, the resort enjoys similar weather to that of Rhodes, with temperatures reaching 14°C at the hottest point of the day, dropping to a chilly 8°C after sunset. The resort experiences around 10 rainy days during this month, so be prepared and pack plenty of warm and waterproof clothing if you're visiting in February.
If the weather does take a turn for the worst, head to the Lychnostatis Open Air Museum to take shelter from the rain. The museum boasts a variety of collections featuring cretan flora, ethnographic pieces, folk art and pre-industrial technology. There are also temporary exhibitions and events held throughout the year.
One of the most popular activities in Hersonissos is go-karting, which is great fun if you're holidaying in a group. Jump into a kart and race against friends and family to see who can be the first to cross the finish line or do a lap in the shortest time.
If you feel like doing a little exploring, visit the neighbouring village of Piskopiano. This tiny village is packed with character and features many restaurants and taverns, as well as winding streets which are wonderful for strolling through.
