Hammamet, known as the Tunisian St. Tropez is growing more and more popular with international tourists. This picturesque resort sits on the southern coast of the Mediterranean Seas and has spectacular all year round weather. There is no bad time of the year to travel here, and there are plenty of excellent hotels to choose from.

Budget

The Hotel Les Citronniers is regarded as one of the best budget hotels in the city. Many of the luxury hotels in Hammamet are located on the shoreline and the budget accommodations are generally centralized in the downtown area of the city. Despite being an extremely affordable hotel in the hustle and bustle of the city centre, this hotel has a swimming pool for guests to use and a full service restaurant if you don't feel like venturing into the heat for a meal.

The Eden Yasmine Hotel & SPA is an affordable, four-star hotel for those who don't want to sacrifice comfort for price. This hotel is located within a short walk from the Mediterranean Sea so taking trips to the beach won't require much planning. This hotel has cozy, intimate rooms and a bar, restaurant and swimming pool on its grounds. It'll be hard to believe that this hotel is considered a budget option with all of its amenities.

Much smaller than the average hotel in Hammamet, the Hotel Nesrine has both budget and all-inclusive options. A short walk away from the Mediterranean Sea, this hotel has a range of pools that are designed for both adults and children. The 27 rooms of this hotel are accompanied with access to the hotel restaurant, bar and shuttle bus services that take guests around the area.

The Vincci Flora Park is an intimate budget hotel that is in a part of Hammamet that is less dominated by tourists but still within walking distance of the beach. There is a small spa and a large restaurant located within the hotel so there are ample activities to plan if you want to spend a day inside unwinding. The restaurant serves local and Mediterranean favourites but will cater to individual tastes and intolerances.

Colourful and quirky, the Sun Garden Hotel is a fun and vibrant budget accommodation. There is an all-inclusive option but the overall price is very affordable. The hotel is extremely popular with French tourists but hotel staff is becoming more and more proficient in English. Just a quick walk away from the beach, there is easy access to the Mediterranean and the hotel has a swimming area with slides and features for children.

Capable of accommodating the demanding business traveller, the Iberostar Solaria has a range of amenities that can keep you connected with home. The rooms in the Iberostar are larger than average when compared to many other budget hotels in Hammamet. There is a full-service restaurant in the hotel and programming geared towards adults including yoga and other fitness classes.

For an affordable hotel that doesn't look like every other option, the Alhambra Thalasso Hotel is traditionally styled and chic. This hotel can be booked with an all-inclusive option that gives guests complete access to the hotel bar, which serves complimentary cheese and olive platters with rounds of drinks. The beautiful classic architecture of this hotel makes it stand out among the rest.

The Hotel Club President is recognized as one of the best budget hotels in Hammamet by Trip Advisor. There are eight room varieties to choose from when booking at this hotel, not a common aspect among affordable resorts. There are rooms that do have balconies that overlook the Mediterranean Sea that would rival those from luxury hotels. There is even entertainment programming available that is children friendly.

Family friendly

The majority of hotels in the Hammamet area of kid-friendly and happily accommodate families with children of all ages. Many of the hotels listed in other categories here would be appropriate for families but there are some that are specifically recognized for their service for those with little ones.

The Club Med Hammamet is extremely popular with traveling families and it does also book many couples on honeymoons. There are a series of three large swimming pools and activities that are kid-friendly throughout the days. There is also convenient beach access from the Club Med so there will be ample fun to be had. This hotel is an all-inclusive so the costs can be higher than the average family hotel stay.

The Iberostar chain of hotels has numerous resorts throughout Tunisia and they're all well-regarded for luxury. The Iberostar Belisaire and Chich Khan are popular with families. The Iberostar Belisaire is recognized by Trip Advisor® for being one of the best top-end in Hammamet. Despite its warranted place on the top-end section of this list, the Iberostar Belisaire goes out of its way to accommodate children. The staff entertains and caters to the guests' kids including special meals and performers.

The Iberostar Chich Khan is slightly smaller than its counterpart but just as family-friendly. Both of the resorts sit on a private stretch of beach and have a large series of pools. The children-friendly entertainment is not as well-rated at the Chich Khan but it will not disappoint. The décor of each hotel varies slightly. The Iberostar Chich Khan has more traditional Tunisian or Moorish style where the Belisaire is more Western in design. For photos that show off that you were in Hammamet, the Chich Khan may be the more appealing choice.

Hotel Le Sultan has a more sophisticated environment but a family hotel just the same. This sleek hotel is located right on the beach and has indoor and outdoor pools in addition. The indoor pool helps this hotel stand out and could be a welcomed reprieve from the heavy heat during a Tunisian summer. The hotel has a wide range of programming and lessons to fill your holiday afternoons. There is scuba diving, horse riding and spa treatments within the grounds. There is also a zoo nearby which can be a fantastic way to keep your children excited and provide a break from beaches.

The large Hotel Mediterranee Thalasso Golf resort has something for each family member from children to mom to dad. There are over 300 rooms on the sprawling grounds of the hotel, which are carefully manicured to feel like an oasis amidst the Tunisian desert. The Hotel Mediterranee has several swimming pools, including one that is indoors, and quick access to a local beach. Because of the carefully manicured lawns, this hotel feels very intimate and much smaller than expected.

Top end

The Riu Palace Oceana is the highest rated luxury hotel in Hammamet. This large hotel is located within a stone's throw of the Mediterranean which means it has some of the best views.  The Riu Palace Oceana offers complimentary sun chairs and umbrellas for its guests that want to relax on the beach.  But while you're in the hotel, you can also enjoy the fitness centre, a large swimming pool and free parking.  The Riu Palace Oceana is extremely popular so booking well in advance will be necessary if you would like to get a room of the Mediterranean.

Hasdrubal Thalassa and Spa is another luxurious hotel option in Hammamet. The Hasdrubal is located near the Riu Palace Oceana and is also on the beach. The expansive grounds of this hotel have a business centre, fitness centre, restaurants, free parking and a big swimming pool to enjoy.  Much more ornate and classical than other luxury hotels, this option reminds guests of beautiful five-star resorts back home in northern Europe.

Popular with families, SENTIDO Phenicia combines the best of luxury hotels with kid-friendly amenities. Located on a beautiful stretch of the Mediterranean, this hotel has spectacular views from each balcony. In addition to the memorable setting, SENTIDO Phenicia has a bar, fitness centre, swimming pool, restaurants and free parking.

SENTIDO Aziza Beach Golf & Spa is a top end hotel in the same management family as the SENTIDO Phenicia but geared more towards couples. Guests are required to be sixteen years or older. This hotel has a much more sophisticated décor inside that is perfect for romantic getaways. There is a range of programming available for adults including yoga, Zumba and other popular exercise classes. There are large suites available for couples traveling for honeymoons or special occasions.

Ranked by Trip Advisor® as one of the best family and customer service hotels in the area, the Holiday Village Manar is great for travelers with little ones. This hotel was once named the Formerly Magic Life Manar Imperial under previous ownership. The large hotel will most likely have vacancy where others are completely booked. There are a series of swimming pools for families to enjoy as well as beach access, large suites and free high-speed internet.

Like many others, the Magic Life Africana Imperial hotel is a top end option that is close to the Mediterranean. What makes this hotel special is that it is popular with families and couples alike and there are 300 rooms to accommodate everyone. The hotel has beach access, a swimming pool, business and fitness centres as well as easy access to local golf courses. The large grounds of the hotel have a variety of rooms and suites from which to choose while on holiday.

Sleek and modern, the Sindbad Hotel appeals to the modern or stylish travelers. Each room has contemporary, minimalistic design and that aesthetic continues throughout the grounds as well. The large outdoor pool is contained by a glass wall that overlooks the Mediterranean. No other hotel in the area can boast a unique pool. Despite the chic accommodations, the hotel is staffed by approachable and knowledgeable employees that have earned a friendly and excellent reputation.

Set further off of the beach than many other luxury hotels, the Russelior Hotel & Spa is quieter than most. Because it is not directly located on a beach, the rates are generally more affordable, the hotel is quieter from having fewer guests without sacrificing top end details. There are several large pools within the hotel grounds as well as varying room sizes, complimentary high-speed internet and a fitness centre available to each guest.

The Hotel Riu Palace Hammamet Marhaba is considered one of the best hotels in Hammamet in many categories: top-end, service and family-friendliness. This hotel is very popular with tourists who are on their honeymoons and have a range of room choices that lend themselves to a romantic getaway. There are small rooms to suites to bungalows to choose from. The hotel has several restaurants on its ground including a traditional Tunisian eatery and an Italian café. The hotel tries to provide as many amenities as possible without having to leave the grounds.

Boutique & B&Bs

Intimate and relaxed, the Villamar Hotel de Charme is a well-regarded boutique hotel. There are only 25 rooms in the hotel so it is quieter than many other options in the area. The hotel has charming décor alongside a hotel bar, swimming pools, convenient beach access, a kitchenette available for each room and shuttle bus service to local attractions.

When choosing a boutique or small hotel in Hammamet, it can be hard to find a hotel option that is popular with English-speaking tourists. Many of the smaller hotels in the region are popular with French tourists so the staff is more likely to speak French than English. However, the Riu Marco Paulo is accommodating to English-speaking tourists. This small hotel has large rooms, a spacious swimming pool area and it is located just a short walk away from the shores of the Mediterranean. There is a bar inside the hotel so you won't have to leave to enjoy a cocktail or pint.
