What's the weather like in Gumbert in October
The final month of the traditional summer season in Gumbet sees the pace of life slow right down towards the middle and end of the month. Many hotels and restaurants begin to close certainly by the last week of the month, however some do remain open throughout the quieter months too.
October is another popular time for cheaper holidays, and it is entirely possible to grab a cheap all-inclusive family break during the school holidays for much less than you would have got it in the peak months. On the other hand, those seeking a party-filled break with plentiful sunshine will certainly still find it at this time of the year.
Sunshine Hours
There are many differences in the weather now that summer is coming to a close but there are still more than enough sun-filled days to be enjoyed, with around 8 hours of sunshine to be experienced per day, meaning beach days are still more than possible right until the end of the month.
Sea Temperature
The sea temperature still sits at a very pleasant 24°C on average, so water-sports and swimming are still on the holiday agenda, with an average daily temperature of around 21°C, which can reach a high of up to 25°C on warm days, usually up to the middle of the month.
Rainfall
The main differences from previous months are the average low temperature and the rain level. Evenings can become chillier at this time of year, dropping to around 16°C on average, so a jacket is now needed for evenings out. On top of this, rain is slightly increased, although certainly not plentiful, with an average rain level of around 30mm throughout the month, which can affect up to 4 days to some degree.
Overall though, there are certainly more than enough summer-like days in Turkey still to be had at this time of the year.
Gumbert Hotels in October
The final month of summer brings some fantastic deals for holidaymakers wanting to enjoy everything Gumbet has on offer. October is a particularly great time to visit for lower, but still very comfortable, temperatures, and you can choose a hotel to offer you comfort and relaxation as the resort winds down.
Turihan Hotel is a B&B establishment with fantastic views over the bay. You are within walking distance of everything you will need and the on-site restaurant will cater for you day and night. It is certainly still warm enough to enjoy the outdoor pool and sunloungers, or you could head to the on-site Turkish bath and sauna for total relaxation.
Alternatively, La Rosa Hotel gives you a half board option, around 15 minutes' walk from the town centre. This is a quiet hotel, cosy and quaint, and gives you a more authentic Turkish feel than some of the larger resort hotels in town. Club Pedalisa Apartments should also be considered if you are going self-catering. These are 10 minutes from the centre of town, and only 5 minutes from the beach, ideal for couples and families. The views over the bay are beautiful and the gardens and large swimming pool will be much less crowded at this time of year.
Gumbert Beaches for October
October is the final official month of the summer season, and that means it is really the final month of the beach season too. Bitez is a resort located around 10km away from Gumbet, just west of Bodrum, and this is another great beach for anyone into windsurfing or surfing, because of the constant breeze which blows across the water.
This is also a sandy beach, perfect for soaking up the sun, and you will find plentiful sun-loungers, particularly at this quieter time of the year.
Bars and Restaurants
The final month of the season means that restaurants begin to wind down as the month comes to an end. Those heading to Bar Street will find that some of the larger clubs have closing parties towards the middle to end of the month, and these are always fun nights, with cheaper drinks and a great celebratory atmosphere.
One place you should certainly check out during your holiday is H&H Askana Ocakbasi Restaurant. This is a traditional BBQ Turkish restaurant, and you will certainly come away with a very full belly indeed! Try the shish kebab, which is some of the most succulent, flavoursome meat you will ever taste, and wash it down with a glass of raki, a Traditional Turkish drink beware, it is strong!
Alternatively, MyMoon is great for Sunday lunches, and evening entertainment is fun and child friendly too. Bella Zin is a one size fits all kind of restaurant, basically that it has everything you could want, from British, Turkish, and European choices on their menu. The portions are huge, so make sure you are hungry!
Things to do in Gumbert in October
The final month of the summer season might mean slightly cooler temperatures, but summer is still hanging around, and for those wanting to drink and party, you don't have to wait until night falls to do just that. Many visitors line the bars in the resort during the day, and the Outback Bar Gumbet is a great place to head during the light hours for a laid-back cocktail or two with friends. This is a themed Aussie surf bar, and you can easily work your way through the cocktail menu, or enjoy a beer or three with the sun shining above you.
If you want to get out and about, and day-time cocktails aren't your thing, then head off and do some shopping in Bitez. You can easily jump on the local bus service, which runs continuously throughout the day. I Love Genuine Fake Factory is a top attraction in the town, which basically does what it says on the tin it sells fake clothes, bags, purses, jackets etc, and all very high quality. You will find many designer fakes in Turkish holiday resorts, some better quality than others, but the good standard stores will give you fantastic products which you can barely tell aren't real. It's simply a case of shopping around, but 'genuine fakes' are big business.
Continuing the laid-back October vibe in Gumbet could mean heading to a local village and trying some traditional life, and perhaps some locally caught seafood for the day. Akyarlar is a great spot to visit for this, with village restaurants serving home grown produce. You can sit inside or outside, depending on the weather, and it's very close to your base resort. Authentic music is played during the day and night, so this is not just an evening activity.
