What's the weather like in Guardalavaca in November
November signals the end of the autumn season, and is your last chance to visit Guardalavaca before the winter sets in.
Sunshine Hours
That is not to say that it will be getting massively colder, nor that the nights are going to be drawing in and leaving you in darkness in the early afternoon: you will still see an average of 8 hours of sunshine a day, which is great news for getting as much done as possible while you have the light.
Temperature
This leads to daily average temperatures of 24°C, which is not bad at all when you consider how late we are in the year. The coldest month does not come until January, and even then you will be impressed by how high the temperatures can be. Now, though, the highs will swing up on average as high as 27°C, and the lows will stay in the higher temperatures by dropping to 20°C. You certainly do not have to worry about how many jumpers you need to pack for your holiday.
Rainfall
Keeping an eye on the forecast will be interesting to see how the weather fluctuates and just how warm you will be able to get, but rain is not so much of a worry any more. Only 7 wet days will occur this month if all is normal, and the downpours will be brief with just 79mm in total falling on average.
Sea Temperature
This makes it even more likely that you will be able to enjoy an uninterrupted dip in the sea, which at an average temperature of 28°C is still very enjoyable indeed. In other words, if you are starting to feel a bit cold on the land, all you have to do in order to warm up is to walk out into the water! November is a quieter season for tourism, which means you might also have a fair stretch of sand to yourself.
Guardalavaca Hotels for November
During November, the cooler weather may mean you are more inclined to stay within the facilities of your hotel. If you want a comfortable casa, try the Casa Cayo Bariay Hostal. This is a great option because the whole house is rented out to travellers, with three bedrooms available. They have a full kitchen and living room, a bathroom with a shower, and a cook service if you do not want to provide your own meals.
The Casa El Horizonte Gibara is another great choice, this time a little closer to the historical town of Gibara. The two independent rooms are actually totally independent from the rest of the house, so you can come and go as you please. They offer great services like a full dinner menu, babysitting, breakfast, access to the kitchen, laundry service, and a TV lounge.
The Hostal Kasalta is great for families as the host family also has their own child. This will give your own children a playmate, and also reassures you about the levels of security! Dinner and breakfast will be provided with you, and a balcony allows you to watch the world go by. Located in the town of Holguin, it's a short drive from Guardalavaca's beaches.
Guardalavaca Beaches in November
Take advantage of the warm sea temperatures, still averaging at 28°C and explore the beautiful Playa Esmerelda, known as the jewel of this region, with a gorgeous sandy shore that hosts two hotels. It features green palm trees hanging their leaves right about the white sand, and blue waters that can even seem green with their perfect clarity. There is a lot to do here, with bars and restaurants set up just off the sand as well as shops where you can pick up some beachwear or fun items if you need them. Relaxing on a sun lounger here is always a good way to spend the day.
Bars and Restaurants
For a simple meal at lunchtime, try Taberna Pancho. Here you will find simple and basic dishes served with beer. It's a great location with a few wild animals wandering around nearby, and also an area for swimming if you feel like taking a dip.
Even though you are in Cuba, it can be nice to try a different cuisine as well. Aviles serves Chinese food in Holguin, allowing you to sample some of your favourite Asian dishes in a whole new setting. The staff are friendly and even a simple rice dish here might fill you up enough at lunchtime.
El Criollo is fantastic for dishes which are a little more exotic, at least according to Western sensibilities. They will serve vibrant seafood dishes like breaded shrimp, all the way up to octopus and turtle meat. You will find them easily with a sign that is visible from the road, and taxis can be organised by the host to pick you up and take you there.
Things to do in Guardalavaca in November
November is a colder time, when it's better to stay indoors. So why not go shopping? Several of the villages and towns in the local area, such as Holguin, offer bountiful shopping streets, where you will find everything that you need at bargain prices. Shop for yourself, or for those back home!
While you are on your way there, you may want to hail a taxi. These cabs are not like anything you are used to no recognisable black cabs or yellow taxis here. Most of them are classic old cars, kept in perfect working condition and now rented out to give tourists a ride. They may even give you a guided tour while they are at it. Local residents operate their cars as taxis on a private basis to earn money, so this is a fantastic way to get an insider view on Cuban life.
